At 33 you should know when you've been accepted and your friends are yanking your chain.

Oh, maybe I'm thinking Davep's age: 93.

You don't even remember when you were 93.

a 2015 mock draft. A ridiculous exercise, sure. But at least it looks ike there are some position players who in their careers so far have demonstrated power and the ability to take walks who should be there at 9 (Bregman, Clark, Happ, Stewart).

Kyle Schwarber wasn't even mentioned one time in this topic as a possibility for the Cubs until the day before the draft.

I just think intense draft following isn't a very useful exercise until a week or two before the draft.

JR, Deeg seems to have hacked into your account and posted a typically condescending, ****-ish comment. He ignored the comment that the mock draft was a "ridiculous exercise" and instead chose to put on his pedant hat and remind me not to engage is obsessive draft following. Can you believe that guy?

Seriously, I'm sorry for the offending comment shasson.  Actually I just meant that as a comment in general and didn't mean that directly towards you or anyone else.

I just have a really hard time getting worked up about draft coverage.  It's nearly impossible to pinpoint exactly who it is the Cubs will be taking until a week or two before the draft at the most, and I just don't care to read for 2-3 or more months about all the doings of a bunch of guys who are unlikely to be Cubs.

I guess my feelings about that are pretty strong, haha.

I agree that it will be nearly impossible to predict who the Cubs will draft.  I don't see what the harm in learning about the players.  If I don't learn about them how can I develop and favorite and overreact when the Cubs pick some one else and be completely wrong about it.

It's a guilty pleasure. I bookmark all those mocks, so thanks for the link.

Without looking it up if I remember correctly Schwarber's name was never mentioned until at the earliest the day before the draft.

JR is indeed correct.

I liked the list, shasson.  Guessing a particular guy, that's one thing.  But, kind of familiarizing with what's out there and how deep the draft might be, that's interesting.  Four of this guy's top 10 are LHP.  Might that be a clue that there could be an interesting LHP available for the Cubs?

It's just kind of interesting to get a feel for what one guy's perception is on distribution of college vs HS, position vs pitchers.

With the Cubs picking 9th I wonder if they will be more willing to go after a pitcher or if hitters will still be the preference.  Somebody like Kirby or the 2 Vanderbilt kids would be interesting in that area.

Good Q, Blue.  Picking 2-4-6, you maybe figure there's a pretty safe bat, so why take the pitcher-injury risk.  (Although even at 6, Almora who seemed such a low-risk bat now looks anything but safe as an offensive player.)  Fair chance that at 9, the bats have as much risk as the pitchers-get-injured risk.
