Josh McCown is available?

Shoot, he might be better than Trubisky right now.

I TOLD YOU SO

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/ct-patriots-josh-mcdaniels-colts-20180206-story.html

We would be approaching Brown's level right now had we attempted to make this hire.  This article goes on to say how McDaniels is still a prime head coaching candidate.  In what universe?  He gave his word to the organization, and coaches were hired on his coming to the team.  Indy is in a mess right now.  McDaniels showed his true colors and character.

I wasn't 100% on board with Nagy before he was hired, but for very different reasons, namely his inexperience. Pace moved decisively and Nagy has assembled a nice cast of coaches to build around the young offense and Trubiskey.

Nagy hired his old mentor Brad Childress, which helps with the inexperience.

Not to defend McDaniels, but Indy is a hot mess.  Drugged up crazy owner, franchise qb who has been hurt for 2 years.  Just saying red flags galore.

Very interesting read:

It shows the steps the Oline needs to take before we determine what the Bears do with the new staff. I hope the Bears dont have to use a high pick on an Olineman. However they do need to get the OLine some young players. As players age the injuries pile up. I hope they bring back a healthy Kush.

Indy probably dodged a bullet anyway with the McD hire. If they have already hired assistants then McD is a total shitbag- you don't screw with the coaches who actually do most of the work for a team anyway....

Then again, reminds of the McGinnis fiasco attempted hire that finally got Mickey McCasket shunted to the cornfield (at last)....

Yes I equated the Colts McDaniel fiasco to the Bears McGinnis hiring fiasco. I havent seen one of this magnitude since the McGinnis fiasco.

If we could draft Nelson at 8, I would be thrilled to have a mauler like that.  I know the question is what to do with Sitton, but my question is what to do with Long.  He WAS an absolute stud, but who knows if he will be even half the player he was before all the injuries.  Then again Sitton is going to be 32, getting a little long in the tooth.  I would rather get rid of a player a year too soon than a year too late.  They need to leave Whitehair at C, and not move him back and forth.  And they should launch Grasu.  Get Kush back, and if we can find an upgrade for Massie, great.  Lets see what Morgan learned for a year on IR...

I'm just hoping the new strength and conditioning team help our guys stay healthy. All healthy our OL is the least.of our worries. Think how much better.our team would be if our top 5 OL along with White and Meredith we're all on the field at the same time for most of the season.

The OL looked ok, against one of the worst SOS's. Go up against better teams and they are going to be beaten badly.

O-line had ups and downs.  They passed blocked fairly well throughout the season and got into trouble primarily with Trubisky's failures to pull the trigger (or take off) when no one was open.

Run-blocking started out well, but as the passing game deteriorated with Trubisky and his no-name WRs, teams over played the run.  Couple that with the injuries the last 4 or 5 games and you end up with a very poor offense.  And we all know the play calling was conservative and predictable.

Can an O-line of Leon, Sitton,  Whitehair, Long and Massie produce with Trubisky with a season under his belt and some threats at WR and some creative plays, not to mention more creative use of Cohen?

I think you are really over-rating them.

They are not that good imo, i hope we draft OL early and often this draft.

If that happens they will lose bigtime next year. Where are you going to get your edge rusher you need badly and your CBs you need. Oh thats right they will come from the great class of UDFAs, makes sense

Let's see....we don't have a cornerback....none.  NFL.COM's 4 draft writers all pick the Bears taking Denzel Ward.

Pass rushers?  We got Floyd and thirty-something Willie Young returning from injury.  That's it.  The rest are FAs or cap victims.

Let's look at WRs...I'd rather not.  Two starters coming off IR.  The guys that did plays are FAs.  And the guy that didn't play is signed through 2018.

So I agree we have issues at O-line, but we got big freaking HOLES at other positions.  So early and often might work but you better get a bumper crop of FAs.

Yes I equated the Colts McDaniel fiasco to the Bears McGinnis hiring fiasco. I havent seen one of this magnitude since the McGinnis fiasco.

I was disappointed when the McGinnis signing fizzled because of the Bears front office.  I had the feeling that McGinnis did not take the position out of principle, not because he was a slime bag.  I think these are two entirely different situations.

The Bears looked like fools with McGinnis.  The Colts were burned by a dirt bag move.  The Colts only issue was considering McDaniel to begin with.
