Say what???

The Mitchell Trubisky era in Chicago could be ending. At least, his era as a starter.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, talks are underway between the Bears and Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

The initial numbers floating around (something in the range of $21 million per year) suggest that Bridgewater would be installed as the No. 1 option in Chicago. And that would be a great deal for a guy who has started six games since January 2016.

Bridgewater was 5-0 last year with the Saints, while Drew Brees was injured. A first-round pick of the Vikings in 2014, a deal with the Bears would bring him back to the black-and-blue division.

I read a tweet about them signing  Bridgewater, drafting Jalen Hurts, and trading Trubisky.

The question is can he run Nagys system?

Oh and the Raiders signed Nick Kwaitkowski

I can't see Nagy wanting anything to do with Bridgewater...

He checks down more than any other QB in the league.

Anything could happen I guess.

But I'm thinking the Bears will go after a lower tier QB like Keenum or a Mariota.  I don't like Dalton because compensation would be required and they'd have to pickup his hefty salary unless that would be part of the deal with the Bengals.

So much for Teddy:

Dan Wiederer
@danwiederer
The phones are active in the NFL world right now and the Bears, per a source, are reaching out to the Bengals and Jaguars re: trade possibilities for Andy Dalton or Nick Foles.

Think about it.  Would the Bears organization make all these changes in their offensive coaching staff if they were just going to hand the job over to an experienced veteran?

I think they'll sign a veteran...but as a backup.

And BTW, I really like Bridgewater.  He was excellent against us (and the other teams he faced) last season.

I hate Bridgewater.  It's personal.  When he was a Viking, he acted worse than a soccer player after being hit.  Then would pop back up and run to the huddle.

Yeah, but he made so many plays with his feet against the Bears.  Picking up 3rd downs with scrambles and just avoiding the pass rush with quick moves followed by accurate throws.  He killed the Bears.

Of course it helps to have a pro bowl receiver, halfback and TE not to mention 4 of your 5 offensive lineman named to pro-bowl in the last 2 years.

March 16: Another QB off the market as Case Keenum signs with the Browns for $18M over 3 years per Adam Schefter.

Guess he likes his chances beating out Baker Mayfield vs Trubisky.

And if you think that's a lot of money for a backup QB then you better look at what is owed Dalton and Foles in 2020.

Is Josh McCown available?  Blake Bortles?  Nate Sudfield?

Jimmy Graham for 2/16. LOL. Nail in the coffin. Pace needs to be fired.

Awful and indefensible.  I thought it was a joke when I first saw it.

I'm glad Kwiatkowski is signing with the Raiders instead of the Packers.

Jimmy Graham, really?
