While the Bears look poised to lock down a top-two draft pick, they can land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft with a loss to the Vikings and a Texans win over the Colts.

Chicago currently holds the No. 2 pick, and a loss to Minnesota would guarantee that selection. But the top selection is still up for grabs with a Houston win.

Therein lies the problem.....who's going to catch the ball? Who's going to block for the QB to throw the ball? Who's going to throw the ball, the running QB?? Who's going to stop the run? Who's going to play safety? Who who who etc etc.....loads of who's needed and doubtful it'll be done in a season...or with the right players....this is a pathetic team.

I can see Philly trading #9 and #31 along with a couple other picks to move up to #2 and get Anderson/Carter.

We could then use the #9/#31 picks on Peter Skoronski/Isaiah Foskey. One example.

A guy like Anderson or Carter would be great, but we have too many holes to plug and FA isn't how you build a team. It's how you supplement it.
We need picks. Lots of 'em.

The draft chart says that Philly could trade their entire 2023 draft and would still come up short to get the Bears #2 pick. 

Maybe throw in their 2024 #1. 

Or throw in AJ Brown or Devonte Smith - works for me.

Poles has quite the dilemma.   Take the supposed generational talent in Anderson or Carter or trade down.   Pace was crucified when he failed on the Trubisky trade.  If Poles trades down and misses the next Watt or Bosa or Garrett for a couple of OK guys he too will be crucified.  And of course the opposite could happen if Anderson or Carter are just so-so and are taken with the #2 pick.

Look at last year.  JAX took Travon Walker #1 - he has 3.5 sacks.  He might have a future - I don't know, I don't follow the Jags.  The Lions took Aiden Hutchinson with 7.5 sacks this season - I know he's a stud already.

The correct decision will be known some time AFTER the 2023 season or later.   Hopefully Poles has done his scouting homework but its not all science - the draft is still a crapshoot.

James Houston really impresses me.  Picked in the 6th round, waived, then put on the practice squad the next day.  He didn't play until Thanksgiving and has had a sack in almost every game since and lead the Lions with 8 sacks breaking Von Miller's record along the way.

It is up to Poles and the scouts to find gems like this dude.

We were all like "who is this guy?".  A Jackson St kid who played for Deion.  4.6 40 and 39" vertical.    You wonder how the Lions' coaches kept him on the bench for half a season.

But at 6-1 241 he's really too small to play NFL DE. 

Remember that when people tell you that Will Anderson is not big enough to play DE (6-4 243).
