Poles has quite the dilemma. Take the supposed generational talent in Anderson or Carter or trade down. Pace was crucified when he failed on the Trubisky trade. If Poles trades down and misses the next Watt or Bosa or Garrett for a couple of OK guys he too will be crucified. And of course the opposite could happen if Anderson or Carter are just so-so and are taken with the #2 pick.
Look at last year. JAX took Travon Walker #1 - he has 3.5 sacks. He might have a future - I don't know, I don't follow the Jags. The Lions took Aiden Hutchinson with 7.5 sacks this season - I know he's a stud already.
The correct decision will be known some time AFTER the 2023 season or later. Hopefully Poles has done his scouting homework but its not all science - the draft is still a crapshoot.
