I just read that at least one of the 16 teams that existed in 1903 (when the World Series started) has appeared in every World Series. Can anyone verify that?
If that's true, the Cubs are the only team left who existed in 1903. History is in their favor.
It is true.
If the Mets make the World Series the will tie the Indians and White Sox in appearances, becoming the first expansion team to tie an orginal 16 team. If the Mets or Blue Jays win the World Series they will become the first expansion team to pass an orginal 16 team in World Series titles (multiple teams including the Cubs with 2).
From 1947-1964, except for 1948 and 1959, at least 1 team was from New York. The Yankees did not make the World Series in 1948, 1954 and 1959.
