The only reason to leave Judge inactive is to increase the chances of getting the top overall pick in the lottery. So I think this issue would take care of itself if that wasn't dictated entirely by scoring the fewest points. Maybe we could require a minimum number of games played and innings pitched to qualify for the lottery? That would discourage keeping part time players in roster spots for extended periods.

Or because the league doesn't reward teams for being competitive by having playoffs.  The Cubs aren't very good right now, but if they can squeeze their way into the playoffs anything can happen.  If we have 8-10 teams making the playoffs it will solve the problem as everyone will be in the mix for a playoff spot for a good majority of the year.

If a manager loses interest because his team isn't competitive, they very well may forget to check their roster.  Once the trade deadline was reached I pretty much forgot to check my roster as I couldn't make trades and my team was out of contention.  It isn't a great deal of fun.

I started trading off solid pieces after 2 months because I knew I couldn't win with my roster as is.  I figured I would try to build for next year by stockpiling higher picks.  If we had a playoff system I would have gone the other way and tried accumulating talent to make sure I was in the top 8 (or 10 or 12) for a playoff spot.

I know the league has been around a lot longer than me, but sometimes changes need to be made to improve the league.  MLB added a pitch clock, bigger bases, instant replay and a DH in the NL among significant changes.  I think we can do the same.

One of the things I pushed for was upping the number of ABs or IP before a player has to be projected.  Ronny Mauricio and POSSIBLY Jordan Lawlar got September callups and will get to 50 ABs.  If I am stuck protecting both of them (or cutting them loose) it is ridiculous.  I have tried to build a solid base and being able to keep them as MiLB guys would go a long way.  Alas I don't think the vote was even close last year when it was discussed.

Yes I know that I changed the subject at the end, but venting after a long season.
