It's true that this rule has not been strictly enforced, mainly because when noticed and mentioned, owners normally correct the error.  It normally happened in the second half of the season when owners had lost interest and weren't checking their teams regularly.  It was rarely, if ever, deliberate.   Our league has survived for 20 years on an honor system, because policing was not only difficult but unappreciated among friends.  Perhaps we have to buy extra Fantrax product to correct this.  But I agree with Dave, this is unacceptable.  br, the difference here is that the owner was paying enough attention to claim a good prospect, but continued to ignore his illegal roster?  Bullshirt.

I mean, how do you not prioritize getting Aaron motherfucking Judge back in your lineup the day he’s activated?

You guys make great points!  Fair and valid across the board.

I am guilty of not looking at my team for a bit as my team was going nowhere quickly and the league doesn't reward anyone for being pretty good.  If there was a playoff system my strategy would have been far different, but there isn't so it is hard to not sell off parts to plan for next season.

Matt is a freshman in college.  He has a lot of other stuff going on besides fantasy baseball (unlike us old guys).  He has been acclimating to school, working almost a full time job, studying for classes, attending classes and maybe having an occasional beer.  He had time to consider a prospect and certainly had time to look at his lineup but didn't do so as his team is firmly in the basement.

I will flip my roster around to make it legal and advise Matt to do the same.

While not attempting to justify, I would bet a lot of money that a playoff system that including 8 of 16 teams would change the strategy of a lot of owners.

I've tried to help Matt with some things this year, Todd.  I understand he's busy with school, which should be his first priority or he'll end up with being nothing but a lawyer like his old man.   Our serious point is this: dev got cheated out of acquiring a good player by an owner barely keeping up with his team.  That's not right.  Actually, if he doesn't want to activate Judge, that's not fair for next year's draft, but at least it doesn't hurt anyone immediately.

I think we really need a playoffs.

I think the transactions need some sort of updating.  While this is supposed to be limited moves, with the IL and minors they're are a lot of transactions that happen.  Trying to keep every teams waivers UTD is not fun.  It takes a lot of time.  When we did moves through Boris waiver claims would take a lot of time.

A bidding system would be kinda fun for waiver claims, the problem would be how add/drops are handled.  Would we make those unlimited or are we still keeping the transaction to 15.  Proposing more and more rules is ok, but who is going to step up and help me?

Implementing FAAB would be great, but it would be a nightmare with daily transactions

Corn Mashers drop Suwinski, activate Conforto. Move Gallegos to IR, pick up Chris Martin.

Can I activate Aaron Judge?  😇

I'm in favor of a playoff.  I like Matt.  In spite of all that we need a commissioner ruling on inappropriate addition to an illegal roster.

I’m going to allow it.

Dev’s roster is illegal too.  He has Garcia in the minors and he should be on the active roster.

The transactions are the biggest pain about the league.  Would people be interested in having a bench with no daily moves with bidding once a week on moves.  The bench would include the 5 minor leaguers and that would still be a hard limit.  To prevent daily roster moves roster lock on a given day of the week and only IL/demotions can be replaced?

Players who shouldn’t be in the minors or on the IL after three weeks go on waivers.  Problem solved.

Who is going to check every roster, everyday and keep track of how long somebody is on the minors?  I have a job and a family and I don’t have unlimited hours to spend policing everything.

Is there a way to configure Fantrax to deem a roster illegal if healthy players are on the DL?

The most simple fix is to make a rule stating that no waiver moves can be made while a roster is illegal. Even Yahoo is capable of that config change…

Hey totally get that!  Maybe just make it up to other owners in the league to point it out if they see it?  Just a thought.
