Jensen was a late riser.

Passan tweeted out Matthew Allen who had a $4 million price tag to the Cubs.

Possible they take Allen with the next pick and go underslot with Jensen?

Keith Law had Jensen at #35, so not far off.

35. Ryan Jensen, RHP, Fresno State -- A 6-foot right-hander, Jensen has one of the biggest fastballs in the class, regularly working at 97-99, with a lightning-quick arm, albeit with a long arm action and lack of a plus second pitch

Allen would eat up all the Cubs draft pool, so I doubt it.

For Jensen, I like the fastball velocity and it is supposed to have good movement. The lack of a secondary pitch for a short righty is concerning.

Passan reporting Allen’s demands where too high for the Cubs.

Feh, another reach for a mediocre college arm whose upside is middle relief.  This organization's drafting really needs a complete overhaul where pitching is concerned.

People thought Hoerner was a reach last year. I’m concerned, but dude throws hard and the breaking ball might be better than what it is reported as.

When was the last time the Cubs hit with one of these patented overdraft college arms?  Their track record speaks for itself, and Jensen fits it perfectly.

I wonder if the Cubs are just tired of having to buy their closers or trade prospects for them and view him strictly as an RP prospect.  I wouldn’t mind it if they developed him that way.

Actually if he’s really flashing that kind of consistent velocity, he might even wind up being a guy that can help us this season.

Take him in the 2nd round then.
