Skenes goes #1 to the Pirates
Which already busts the brackets for most "experts."

Throwing a ball repeatedly over hand with high velocity is an injury risk.  Split-finger fastballs aren’t a risk for arm injury.

Many studies, baseball people, and doctors disagree.

A’s take Nick Madrigal 2.0, only he can play SS.

And 7 inches taller!

I was half-hoping Lowder would slip to the Cubs.

Maybe from the 80’s, not anymore.

Gonzalez or Teel falling would be nice.

Excellent contact skills with bad plate discipline is a skill set I’d like to just stay away from.

Gonzalez wouldn’t be falling as he’s generally rated lower than 13.  Only way he goes higher is if someone like the Twins takes him as an underslot.

I think I’d like the TCU 3Bman here…

I’d take Teel if he’s there but the Cubs seem incapable of taking a C in the first round.

I expect another “trade down” underslot pick.

I’d be fine with any of the college players listed in Kiley’s Next 10. I don’t want Nimmala or Houck.

Keith Law recently said Shaw has advanced batted ball data the Cubs like.

Shaw looks like Hoerner with a little more power.

Shaw!

That’s fine, broadly a slot pick and not a reach.  I think the bat plays, but almost no chance he sticks at SS.  Probably doesn’t have the arm for 3B so either 2B (and we have a guy there who’s plenty good, though not a star) or LF.
