Too much for a guy who isn't a TORP.  Don't like it.

As an added bonus, no reason for any of the underperforming guys on the ML roster to feel their security is under threat.

Only Sale and Kluber have a higher WAR the last 3 years than Quintana in the AL. Not a torp, though.

I wouldn't like this trade if Quintana was repeating what he did last year and there was no reason to wonder if there is some problem from which he will not recover.  If the Cubs are lucky with this move, and Quintana returns to his form over the last few years, the best case reasonable scenario is that he helps the team make the playoffs this year and they check out of the playoffs quickly, while also giving them a nice, strong mid-rotation lefty for the next few years.

That is not much of a return for a potential true top of the rotation starter and a potential multi-year middle of the order powerhouse outfielder.

Not at all a good move.

So now there are 6 crappy starters instead of 5?

7 if you count Anderson I guess.

You knew we had to turn some of these bats into pitchers eventually.

I would have rather traded Eloy than say Schwarber or Javy and as far as Cease goes you can tell we knew he was fragile by his usage.
