I think you let Dex walk (sadly), sign a LHB who can play a good defensive CF as an Almora alternative, and make improving the bullpen - and signing a closer - priority #1A.

People love to diss spending money on relief pitchers.  Don't forget Miller was available for nothing but money, and $9 million a year at that.

I don't see Heyward playing regularly in CF.  You don't want to diminish his biggest asset (defense) by putting him in a position where he is merely good and not great.  If Fowler doesn't stay, Almora likely takes over as the primary CFer.  Soler gets traded.  Schwarber is the primary LFer.  Zobrist starts in RF vs. LHP, starts in LF when Schwarber catches, and starts at 2B to spell Baez vs. tough breaking ball RH starters.

I don't see Zobrist being marginalized like that.  Not yet, anyway.

Heyward's D in center is underrated.  And he'll look pretty good as a CF when his OPS is in the mid-700's, where it will likely rebound to next season.

Imagine this team with Heyward at career norms and Schwarber all year.  My gosh an embarrassment of riches.  Not to mention Russell, Contreras and Baez possibly improving.

As much as I hate to say it with the OF depth that we have I think you've got to let Fowler go with Schwarber, Heyward, and Zobrist starting and Almora and Soler on the bench.

Zobrist should be a fine leadoff man.

I'm not really sure we need any position players at all.

Pitching, pitching, and more pitching this offseason.

In my scenario above, you get 50 or so starts for Zobrist in RF (Heyward on bench), 30 starts in LF, and 30 or so starts at 2B.  If you also put Heyward in CF to spell Almora 30 games or so (with Zobrist in RF), then you don't really end up marginalizing Zobrist.

No.  Don't know who that is.  Bryant has a championship wrestling belt around his waist.

WWE sent that to the Cubs.

The Cubs should have a little bump in the payroll next year too. Attendance was up 300,000 so that could be $13+ million in revenue, the TV contract has a little bump tooted the additional playoff money. Are the rooftops under the Cubs umbrella or part of a separate company for the Ricketts?

If I understand the reports, the Ricketts family owns several of the rooftops separately from the Cubs, but all rooftops, including those owned by the Ricketts family pay a percentage of their receipts to the Cubs.  I don't remember the exact number, but 18 % rings a bell.
