If Baez re-signs with Mets, that will be end of his career as a SS. Not sure if he wants to do that.
Further, as there will be a market for him as a SS—obviously—Mets will have to pay a SS price for him to play 2B or 3B. Not to sure they’d want to do that either.
Yankees may make more sense, as they apparently may want to move Gleyber to 2B.
New York City seems like a natural place for Javy. He loves the limelight and every mercurial thing he does (good and bad) will be talked and written about endlessly, everywhere.
Guessing that Baez is the least likely of Cubs big trade guys to come back. If Hoyer actually dips into the big time SS free agent, think he’s going to want more of OBP, somewhat fewer Ks, type of guy.
