From 15-2 to 11-6 is improving?

Last year GB had a terrible defense.  This year it was much better by the end  of the year.

I predicted at the beginning of the season that the Pack's young defensive players would improve and play much better as the season went on.  This happened and they were playing good defense at the end of the season.

They started the season  at 2-3 and ended at 11-5.

Except for the freakish 200 yard games by Minn and the 181 running yards by Kaepernick the team had an outstanding season.

Why those freakish things happened I don't know but I think  we will stick with Capers.

When the rookies have another year tou will see an even stronger defense in 2013.

The Green Bay Packers’ wide receiving corps that has served as Aaron Rodgers’ primary targets since he took over as the starting quarterback in 2008 – Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones and Jordy Nelson, with Randall Cobb added in the past two years – might have played its last game together on Saturday night in San Francisco.

Rodgers hinted as much after the game. He won't have a recieving corps like he's had the past couple years again. They were deep and talented. That's done....gone.....

GOOD!!!

It was almost unfair to have that much talent on one offense.

It was a nice return by Manning but he looks like he's lost a step.

The Danieal Manning we had would have taken that all the way back.

He looked pretty fast going through that hole on the opening KO.   I don't think he lost a step.  He just caught from behind after running 94 yards.

But the Texans are a good team and will only get better.  Defense seemed to wear down as the season went along.

Here's the fake handoff up the middle where Kapernick leaves the Pakers defenders shorts on the field. Beautiful fake and run....

I see some people saying Kapernick can't keep doing all that running or he'll wind up like RGIII.

Those people need to do their research.  RGIII is built like a WR.  Kap is built like a TE...  6'4 at least and around 230 lbs. Pretty sure he can take a few hits and probably dish some out too.

He's gonna be a tough customer for that Falcons D that laid a huge egg in the 2nd half of their game yesterday.  Especially on that fast track in the Georgia Dome.

I haven't seen Kaepernick get hit hard yet this season.

Will probably have to develop as less of a runner as his career moves on. That 1st injury (if he has one) that could slow him down will be telling. He appears to be a good thrower on the move or not (something Vick could not do well in the pocket), so as long as he doesn't lose his technique he should do well.....

Kapernick -- as a thrower -- shredded a Bears pass D that most people thought was pretty good at the time.  In his first game.

So yeah the kid can fling it.  Give him another offseason under Harbaugh as the undisputed #1 and I'm pretty sure DCs will have to worry about his throwing just as much as his running.

The rest of the league needs to find a system to beat that weird game plan of the 49ers.

hen a defense allows an all-time high in quarterback rushing yards and gives up 45 points, there are bound to be a number of players on that unit who played poorly and would be worthy of a "dud" tag. We came up with two players in particular, while two members of the coaching staff deserve some consideration as well.

Erik Walden: Yesterday, I detailed his complete and utter failure to recognize a zone read play and set the edge; sadly, this wasn't the only time that happened on the day. I can't think of a single positive thing to say about Walden's play this week. Hopefully Nick Perry will be ready to go again at the beginning of next season, because I don't ever want to see that #93 for Green Bay in the starting lineup again.

Tramon Williams: He got beaten like a drum time and again in the first half by Michael Crabtree. For someone who's supposed to be a top-flight cornerback, he played one of his worst games of the season on the biggest stage and repeatedly looked lost in coverage. I am loath to suggest it, but with Sam Shields' very solid season and Casey Hayward's emergence, could Williams lose his starting job next season?

Mike McCarthy: Devin detailed the head coach's problematic playcalling this week, and I can't disagree. The offense never found a rhythm and while some of that may be due to the opponent playing ball-control offense and running the ball with success, I distinctly remember being livid even on the first three and out. After picking up seven yards on first down, McCarthy called two straight throws into the flat rather than running the ball. Then, he all but abandoned the running game in the second half, even when it was a one-score game. McCarthy definitely deserves to take a good portion of the blame for the offense's ineffectiveness, though it isn't entirely his fault.

Dom Capers: It's like Capers didn't know the zone read was coming and didn't prepare for it at all. Plus, his insistence on playing man coverage all game against a dual-threat quarterback certainly won't endear him to any Packers fans this week. The defense looked out-muscled and out-executed by the 49ers' offense, but worst of all they looked unprepared and bland in their attempts to stop San Francisco.

having a decent O with a healthy Cutler would have helped us look better against SF.
We didn't have but about 200 yards offense that game.
