Feeling good about the team after this game.  Not sure about this season but the future looks bright.

Show of hands.  How many think that the Bears really made a stretch when they traded up to get Trubisky?

You will have to get JBN to start posting again to find any Bears fan pissed about trading up for Trubisky now.

Granted it was one pre-season game against 3rd and 4th stringers but he looked like a real franchise QB.  He looked like everything Cutler was supposed to be and showed flashes of but could never hold it together.  He did this in his first NFL game while playing with a lot of 3rd stringers on his side.  Granted he had some nice receivers still in there but the O-line was not the starters.  But neither were the D-line he was facing.

I think this first game went as bad as it possible could for Glennon and as good as it possibly could for Trubisky.  Sanchez even looked better then Glennon in his limited playing time.

It is one game and we will all continue to evaluate them going forward but I don't think anyone right now regrets getting Trubisky no matter the price.

I disagree.

Since Trubisky ONLY started 13 games in college - he needs to sit the bench for a year and not play a single game in the NFL his first year.  You can't just throw him to the wolves.  He needs to watch the veterans Glennon and Sanchez and learn from them holding a clipboard.

That's pretty much what the announcers were saying as he entered the game, which is pretty much what most the Chicago sportswriters have been saying too.

Glennon had some pressure and some drops - he'll do better next week.  But I think his biggest problem is that the Bears don't have a legit #1 WR (they did but he's playing for the EAgles this year).

I said at the time that we have to trust Pace and his evaluation.  I also said that if Pace had the conviction on Trubiskey, and his phone was ringing at 3 then it was likely that the 49ers phone was also ringing.  A report out this week said the Chiefs were trying to trade up to 2.  Then they didn't.  Funny they didn't trade up to 3 after Trubiskey was off the board.  I also think Cleveland might have been trying to trade up after they drafted Garrett.  When the didn't take Tru at 1, the door opened for Pace.

One half of football, but that is what we have been waiting to see for QB play.  He had a couple of balls batted down at the line, but most of his incompletions were drops.  Cruz's drop in the final 2 minutes could have been a huge play, that ball was right on his hip and he was running before he caught it.

Watched replays of Trubisky. Man, the kid really looked good. His throws looked crisp. Looked real comfy rolling out of the pocket..

I liked the zip he had on his throws, and they were right on target.  I dont remember seeing any balls bounce in the dirt in front of any WR.  If the kid doesnt play this year so be it, but I wouldnt mind watching him continue to grow and do well.

Do we know for sure if Denver's defense at the end of the 1st half was already down to 3rd string, or was it maybe still 2nd stringers?

Big difference...2nd stringers are NFL players, where 3rd stringers are 50/50 at best.

I don't think it matters that much.  Last night you got to see Trubisky's athleticism, arm strength, speed, pocket awareness and decision making in action.

Now he might not look as good going against a first string highly ranked defense in a regular season game but the talent is there.

I hope they let him hold hte clipboard all year. Suck for Darnold, then trade the #1 pick away for a bounty of picks, bears have their QB.

I don't think they could be worse than San Francisco and Cleveland.  Was hearing from Cowherd talking to 2 nFL scouts how they like the Wyoming QB possibly first  and Rosen at UCLA.  Darnold has less skills but has the "it" factor.

Just start Glennon all year, the rest will take care of itself.

Bears are most likely not going to be a playoff team (still needing more playmakers on both sides of the ball), but they have enough talent to make the season interesting.

Tanking the season to get a high draft choice in 2018 is pretty depressing.   Why not win some games, draft in the teens and show the rest of the league the program is on the upswing - the top free agents will start showing some interest.
