Appearing in all four games for the Packers throughout the preseason, Hundley compiled a 129.6 quarterback rating, leading the entire NFL.
He completed 69.2% of his passes while throwing for 630 yards, and seven touchdowns.
His more notable games included the team’s third and fourth game of the preseason, which saw Hundley develop into a better player and look much more confident under center.
The Packers third preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles saw Hundley throw for 315 yards and two touchdowns while starting under center. For the preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints, Hundley threw for 236 yards with four touchdowns, which included a 142.4 quarterback rating.
Hundley has given Packer fans a sense of confidence if something were to happen to Aaron Rodgers this season (knock on wood). Although Scott Tolzien will go into the season as the team’s backup to Rodgers, Hundley has shown more of a game changer ability which may propel him into the team’s permanent backup job.
It has been remarkable to watch Hundley excel in the Packers high powered offense, after being passed over by so many NFL teams in the 2015 draft.
“I’ll always remember that; I’ll always remember Pick 147,” Hundley said. “But at the same time I know that I can play and I have a lot of confidence in my ability. I know I can play with the best of them. Now, Aaron, he’s an awesome quarterback. I’ve got awhile to get to that.”
