Heh heh, and because I'm dumb, and forgot that Florida State League which has been A+ for most of my memory has now gotten flipped and is low-A!

Gonzalez will be Rule 5 eligible after this season. Would seem to be very unlikely to be protected (or to be drafted for that matter, as a low-A middle reliever).

Wesneski will certainly be protected, and probably Brown, but it is hard to see Gonzalez drafted, and I doubt that the Cubs will protect him. They are going to have a lot of others to protect, and a lot of tough decisions to make.

Longenhagen at Fangraphs—evaluating trade deadline prospect values—ranks Cubs likely Compensatory pick for Contreras as slightly of more value than Ben Brown value because that pick is “typically 40 FV prospect territory, maybe 40+ if the draft is deep.”
