I can't imagine anyone getting so worked up about him. There's a reason he couldn't stick with multiple teams.

I would be beyond shocked if Aromashadu was back with us for this season.

The coaches gave every indication last year that they want nothing to do with him.

I agree.  Just throwing out possible scenarios on why they didn't go after a rookie WR in the draft.

But one season Aroma was an up and coming WR then when Martz gets here all that changes.

I think it's win or go home (literally) this year for Martz.

For all the hype he came in with, our offense actually finished WORSE statistically than they had the previous year with Ron Turner. And the failures of the offense in those last two Packers losses are unforgivable.

I understand that Martz is working with a fraction of the talent he had in his glory days with the Rams, but it sure seems like he was behind the curve most of the season as far as getting what he could out of the guys we had.

I'm not quite ready to go on record saying he was a bad hire...  but he's got a lot of work to do before this season and a lot to prove during it.

But, OTOH he is going to have a built in excuse if the labor situation doesnt come to a closure quickly. Hard to give him a fair evaluation if we dont have a proper preseason as well as regular season.

Yes and no. Barring some totally left-field FA signing we are going to have the exact same cast of characters on offense this year as we did last year.  At least at the skill positions. Theoretically at least, even if the lockout shortens or eliminates the preseason we should still be ahead of any team (and there are a lot of them) who are going to be integrating a new QB and/or WRs into the mix.

Presumably our OL play will improve with the addition of Carimi and hopefully a FA OG...  which will open up Martz' options somewhat...  but I think Martz realistically has to plan on having the same pieces to work with as he did last year and take it upon himself to re-tool his offense so that it works significantly better with those pieces than it did last year.  Skill position upgrades are going to be slim to none so the bulk of improvement on the offense will have to come through scheme.

One huge concern is the number of potential losses via free agency of our special team players:  Graham, Iwuh, Wolfe, Rod Williams and Daniel Manning.

We saw some improvement in the 2nd half with the offensive line, obviously there is room for improvement.  But with the addition of Carimi and another year of experience for Chris Williams (at guard), Edwin Williams, Herman Johnson and Lance Louis, someone will emerge.

I said this after the 2nd GB game - they need a wide receiver.  I'd like to see the Bears go after one of the available free agents.

We dont just need to get better.  We need to get A LOT better.  The Lions with Fairley and Suh are reason enough.

This seems to say that Thompson/McCarthy are satisfied that the young guys, C. J. Wilson and Mike Neal will fill the RT job adequately.

Getty ImagesAfter seven years on the Packers’ defensive line, Cullen Jenkins assumes he’ll sign elsewhere in free agency.

Jenkins repeated Wednesday what he has previously said, that he wanted to stay in Green Bay enough that he offered last year to take less money to stay with the Packers than he thought he could make in free agency, but the Packers weren’t interested.

“Heading into last year, I’ve always been up there and always been a Packer, and I wanted to stay a Packer,” Jenkins said, per Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com. “So we approached the team and wanted to get some type of security, some type of longer-term deal before the season so I would know I would be there. It wasn’t about money, it was about security, about trying to see if we could work something out.”

When asked if he would have given the Packers a hometown discount, Jenkins said, “Yeah. That was the thought then. I knew in going to them, I know Green Bay, I know the market, I know how they handle business, and the thought was if we could get something reasonable worked out, I knew I would take less than what I could’ve gotten in free agency. But they never approached me with anything and never got any type of negotiations going. It’s just how the business is. They had a lot of younger guys and felt they could move forward in that direction.”

So Jenkins expects to sign with another team, whenever free agents are allowed to sign with teams. He may not have to move his family too far, as the Bears are thought to be interested.

I had read that as well.  However I am guessing with Paea now a Bear they probably won't go after him as hard.  Although they may feel he is an upgrade to Adams and may be his replacement if the price is right.

I prefer the Bears spend their free agent dollars on the O-line personally.  They need a center and a guard still.

I expect Angelo to bargain shop in FA except for maybe on the OL. He might open his purse to buy an OL but I expect a lot of other folks it will be if they fill a need and are reasonable.
