McNabb to the Vikes? Not the worst destination for him. McNabb probably has a good season or two left in him.

I'd LOVE McNabb on the Vikings! Yum!

I think the Vikings are going to sign McNabb and draft a QB in the 2nd round.  And they'll spend their 1st round pick on whatever defensive player they think will have the most immediate impact.

Thats the way to play it,bring in a vet and teach the next guy the ropes at QB.

The word is the Cardinals would like to snag him also, and do the same as Minnie,

sign a vet and draft a rookie.

Beyond the fact that Danny Synder is a clueless dipsh-it and Mike Shanahan has lost it as a HC, I'm at a loss for why McNabb didn't work out in DC.  It seems like almost as soon as the trade with the Eagles had been made, the Skins organization starting stacking the deck against him.  Very strange, considering their absolute lack of any other viable option at QB last season.

I would be very surprised if McNabb does not show himself to be a much better player with either the Vikings or the Cardinals than he was in that dysfunctional Redskins organization.

Hmmm...  Lions fixing to blow another 1st round draft pick?  Or just a smokescreen?

Nobody can sign McNabb.  They will have to work a trade for him.  Washington signed him to an extension the week after they benched him.

Yeah.  The week after they benched him for Grossman.

Yeah, when you get benched in favor of Rex Grossman you know the honeymoon is definitely over.

It is pretty common knowledge he is done for in Washington.  The redskins will not pay him all that money to sit on the bench.  Most suspect he will be cut.  The Redskins might get a really low round draft pick for him but no one is going to give them a whole lot when everyone knows they are going to cut him sooner rather then later.

Quote
Fictional agent and strong arm twister Jack Bauer wouldn't have been able to pry information out of Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson, so you can imagine what it was like for the Packers beat reporters Thursday at Thompson's pre-draft news conference in Lambeau.

Basic, logical questions.

Kindly, nonspecific responses.

The draft is where the seventh-year GM has built the foundation for the Super Bowl champions, scooping up Aaron Rodgers, uncovering Nick Collins, discovering Greg Jennings and nabbing Clay Matthews.

Thompson's reputation for protecting his draft strategy is now legendary - just as the draft's popularity has exploded in the media with mock drafts, grades and speculation.

"There's a lot of interest in the draft, it's great," said Thompson. "But, quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they're talking about, because I'm supposed to know a lot and I don't know all the stuff those guys know."...

Love that last paragraph.  Draft gurus spout off all sorts of critcal data and closely rate players by comparing an 8.2 to an 8.3 and in the final analysis, one guy is great, as advertised, and the other is bust.

Makes good reading and makes a living for the writers of this stuff but really not much truth in it.

Agreed, and another thing you can never really know is how much of a draft pick's success or failure is environmentally related. For example, Cedric Benson busted spectacularly for the Bears but has had a very solid career with the Bengals. Conversely, I think it is very safe to assume that if Tom Brady had been drafted by the Bears, Browns or Cardinals he probably would have been out of the league within 3 years.

An example this year is the top 2 WR prospects (AJ Green and Julio Jones) who on paper have very little difference between them. It's entirely possible that one of them will be a star and one of them will bust. It's also possible that if they had each gone to the other's team, the situation would have been reversed.

Ultimately, a solid roster depends on your personnel people picking the right players and your coaches developing them. On both of those counts, clearly, the Bears have not met league standard.

What do you think his trade value is today?

Under the circumstances I could see him going for a third or fourth.

Only if a team is desperate.  I think you would have it pegged about right if everyone did not know the Redskins were going to dump him.  If a team thinks they can get him for no draft picks they will wait.  However my guess is there will be some bidding since so many teams need a QB (Thank God we have Cutler) .

Maybe a 5th round pick that will go higher based on McNabbs stats or number of starts perhaps.

Totally agree there....we also haven't developed any depth...look at a Packers last year....all those injuries and they had the depth to win SB.  Teams all pick from the same talent pool.  Bears may or may not have drafted solid prospects in the past, but if they did, they didn't develop what they had very well.  That may be changing with Tice and Marinelli, but in prior years of the Lovie-regime has not always been the case.

The rap on McNabb seems to be his poor work habits.

I you sign him you need to sign another QB as his replacement-in-training and McNabb might not be a good example for him.
