Biscotti still mouthing off about the screw up in the trade between the Ravens and the Bears. Guess the payback for screwing the Vikings a few years ago is a bizzatch, no ?

It's too early to tell about the pick at safety.  If Angelo is right on that one, he looks like a genius.  I thought the first two picks were solid.

The picks I have a problem with our the QBs in the last two years.  Everyone talks about getting a developmental QB in the pipeline, but if Cutler is our 27 year old bell cow, he should play well into his 30's.  To me, it makes more sense to draft a developmental QB when your starter is in his early to mid 30's, kind of what the Pack did with Favre/Rogers and what the Patriots just did with Brady and the guy they just drafted.  I think drafting a QB now is a wasted pick...

I think that both the Pats and the Packers take QBs often in the draft.

All I can say about Enderle is I hope the Bears did a lot more homework on him than they did on LeFevour.

If LeFevour wasn't good enough to be our 3rd QB right out of the gate (thereby keeping him off the PS), then we shouldn't have drafted him.  After the way Angelo bungled that whole situation with LeFevour they are almost obligated to keep Enderle on the active roster this year or the outcry over yet another thrown away draft pick will be severe.

Story in the Trib today about how he is exactly the kind of player that Martz likes.  He developed Warner and Bulger, blah blah blah.  Sounds like propaganda to talk the fans off the ledge...

LeFevour was only put on the PS because of the injury to Hanie - they didn't want to keep 4 QBs on the roster.  Bears might have been able to hide him if he hadn't performed so well in the final preseason game.  He had a nice TD pass to another player that we tried to stash on the PS too.

And then the Vikings later swiped Iglesias too.

As for LeFevour, if he was so good, would the Bengals have drafted Andy Dalton in the 2nd round?

We would have been better off going into 2010 with Cutler, Hanie and LeFevour as our 3 rather than Todd Collins.

Seriously...  that guy was worse than worthless. I've seen a whole lot of godawful QBs in my years of watching the Bears but Collins was easily in the Top (Bottom?) 5 of Bear QBs all-time for overall suc-kage.

Not to mention, then we could have used this year's 5th rounder on another OL or a big WR.

LeFevour, Collins, and Enderle and Fat Manu are all about Martz.  I think Martz has a good handle of his playbook after his several years of coaching and can call a good game.  But IMO his evaluation skills are at best overrated and at worst as bad as Lovie and Angelo.  His reputation still hangs on the excellent talent he was spoiled with during the Greatest Show on Turf over a decade ago and he still believes he can resurrect those glory days in Chicago.

Seriously, does anyone believe that Martz will be on the Bears staff long enough to develop Enderle into a competent backup or trade bait.  I don't.  It was not necessary to waste a draft pick, even a 5th, on a QB with so many glaring immediate needs and only 5 picks to address them.

Actually they would be the same with both scenarios.  They had a chance to get Bulger last off season and they blew it.  Cutler, Bulger, and Hanie would've been much MUCH better than the other 2 scenarios you brought up.

I don't have a problem with the picks.  You brought up another OL.  I think they are either going to pick up one via free agency or stick with what they have.  Put Carimi at LT.  Don't move to the right.

Then you brought up drafting a "big" WR in the 5th round.  I'm starting to think they'll stick with the guy from the CFL and/or keep Aromashadu and see if he can come with it this year.  I don't have an issue with the picks at all.

I would be beyond shocked if Aromashadu was back with us for this season.

The coaches gave every indication last year that they want nothing to do with him.

Yep, Aromashodu is gone.

Martz failure to utilize him, his pass heavy play calling and his faith in Todd Collins have been my biggest concerns with Martz' judgment.
