I don't understand the obsession for a team in LA.  They have had several teams try and fail there.

Mike McCarthy didn’t have to look far down the schedule for it to get his attention.

“Four big challenges right out of the gate,” McCarthy told packers.com.

It’s a kind of murderer’s row of opening opponents: 49ers and Bears at home, then off to Seattle for a visit with Matt Flynn, then back home for a rematch of last year’s “Kickoff” thriller with the Saints. On top of that formidable quartet of opponents, the middle two games will be played at prime time on a Thursday and a Monday.

Second-easiest schedule in the league? Not in September. In the opening month of the season, the Packers might be playing the league’s most difficult schedule.

“It’s a difficult challenge, but I like the maturity of our football team. We’ll be ready,” the Packers head coach said...

Exactly! I dont see it happening. Large city but poor draw. They have USC and UCLA right there who draw better. The Rams and the Raiders failed miserably in LA

You would call a team in town from 1946 to 1994 a failure?

You have set some standards that no one can ever reach.  :D

Packrat, I'm unsure I would call NO or SEA quality opponents this year though by the 3rd week or so Flynn might have SEA on the right direction.

If NO sniffs 8-8 this year I'll be surprised.
The bad part about this is they likely will get a high #1 pick next year as a "reward".
I think in my punishment I would have moved their #1 to the bottom of the round.

They forfeit next year's pick as well, right?

I think they lose this year's #2 and next years #2 but get to keep #1.

Yea I think NO is gonna have a down year...WAY too much distraction. Really wouldn't surprise me if they suffer a losing season...

They're still an 8-8 team as long as they've got a healthy Drew Brees under center.

The division could be tougher for them this year than they've gotten accustomed to though.  With a good draft I see Carolina moving into the category of playoff contender and the Bucs won't be as awful as they were last year either.

I doubt NO's draft this year will be affected that much by that new NFL investigation, but with more penalties on the way as a result I could see them losing more picks by 2013.

You are probably  right.  Just some rhetoric by Mccarthy to make conversation and "pay repects''.

Vikings stadium issue has FINALLY cleared all the political B.S. in the Minnesota legislature.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/05/10/vikings-stadium-clears-last-obstacle-in-legislature/

Looks like the Vikes are staying in Minny and the NFC North will remain intact.  Good for everyone AFAIC.

L.A. will have to hit-up some other owner if they want a team.  The Jaguars might be a good choice...   I've never felt that Florida needs 3 NFL teams and the Jacksonville fan base has been terrible for years.  Plus that new owner of theirs is nutty as a fruitcake so he'd be a perfect fit there in SoCal.
