Game 1 (Friday): Lester (8 days' rest)
Game 2 (Saturday): Hendricks (6 days' rest)
Game 3 (Monday): Arrieta (4 days' rest)
Game 4 (Tuesday): Hammel or Bullpen or Lester on 3 days' rest.
Game 5 (Thursday): Hendricks (4 days' rest)

And that's as far out as they've been scheduled.

I'd opt toward not rostering Hammel.  Use the bullpen for Game 4 if we're up, use Lester if we're down in the series.

Wait - why isn't Lester slated to start Game 5?

Games 6 and 7 would probably be Saturday and Monday, since they'd go STL, CHI, STL for the locations.  So Game 6 would be Arrieta on 4 days' rest and Game 7 would be Lester on 5 days' rest

My initial thought was Denorfia, but with the defensive subs late in the game I was leaning Soler.  With Garcia likely starting a game I think you would want Soler on the roster for at least that game.  So I have no clue, Maddon and Espstein will come up with something.

When I was looking Card injury news I ran across this.  I'm not posting it because of the advanced stats used, just jump to the end.

That would be assuming he started Game 4.  If you roster Hammel or use the bullpen, push everyone back.

Lester has never started a postseason game on < 4 days' rest, but if we go into Game 4 down 2-1, I think I'd have more faith in Lester on 3 days' rest than Hammel on any.

I think you give Hammel and Hendricks the start, but with microscopic leash.  I wonder if they will look at Haren and his start against the Cards and consider starting him.

5 games series, I think?

No game on Sunday, so Arrieta's not going to short rest.  He'll be on normal rest on Monday, which would also put him on normal rest to start the NLCS game one on Saturday the 17th.

The only short-rest discussion would be Lester for going Tuesday game 4 versus Thursday game 5.

I wouldn't deroster Soler.  If nothing else, a pinch hitter who can hit the ball out of any park in any wind can be extremely valuable.

From the Chicago DA

Quote
CHICAGO — Giddy Cubs fan, beware.

The Better Business Bureau is warning fans to have their guard up for scammers looking to cash in on the excitement surrounding the Cubs' playoff run.

"Whenever there's excitement about a special event, like the Cubs post-season appearance, there are counterfeiters who want to take advantage of the opportunity in an illegal way," said Steve J. Bernas, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau serving Chicago and Northern Illinois.

The bureau's advice:

·  "Don't fall for too-good-to-be-true deals. One-time good deals should be red flags to anyone anxious for a ticket. Illegal ticket sellers know excitement about the event too often gets in the way of common sense and smart buying.

·  "Buy tickets and merchandise from a reputable ticket broker or retailer. There are established businesses that have been selling legitimate tickets for years. Many are Accredited Businesses with the BBB.

·  "Look for the official hologram and license from the sports league. These are very difficult to fake and an excellent indication of a licensed product.

· "If buying merchandise online, buy from licensed sites. Lookout for broken English in the descriptions. This could indicate an overseas company, and these companies are among the principal culprits in producing counterfeit goods.

·  "Check the bbb.org/chicago for Business Reports on an individual business. Check BBB online reports and Consumer Reviews about various businesses to avoid being cheated.

·  "Use a credit card if possible, so you can appeal to the card company. Using a credit card allows you to dispute the charge before you pay."

"Cubs fans have waited many years for a post-season opportunity," says Bernas.  "We don't want their excitement to be spoiled by losing money with fake tickets or poor merchandise."

Isn't using your credit card to pay for tickets sort of a catch-22?  You should give your credit card info to somebody who may be a scammer?

Yeah, I'd have a hard time de-rostering Soler, too.  And Denorfia.  I think I'd take out Berry or Hammel first.

Thought it was a 5-game series too. No way Lester doesn't pitch twice if it gets there.

Lackey, Garcia, Wacha, Lynn for the Cards.

Molina made the roster.

Cishek, Choate, Adams did not.

It is the best three out of five game series.  http://m.mlb.com/postseason-schedule

So maybe:
Game 1 (Friday): Lester (8 days' rest)
Game 2 (Saturday): Hendricks (6 days' rest)
Game 3 (Monday): Arrieta (4 days' rest)
Game 4 (Tuesday): Hammel or Bullpen)
Game 5 (Thursday): Lester (5 days' rest)
