Honestly at his point I would rather let Ratliff go and keep a guy like Williams around. I'm not saying tank the season or anything but let's continue to get younger. I am also surprised that Jared Allen is still here. I expect there are cap implications as to why they kept him.

Ratliff brings a veteran presence (as well as experience with the 3-4) and he's still playing at a high level.  As for Allen, I don't know the cap situation but if he has another blah season like last year I think he could very well be cut.  But someone has to show they can take his job.

I think your eye needs to be on the future of each  player rather than this year, or short range.

Well you don't want to field half a team of PS players either and tank the season.   NFL coaches are held responsible to win as many games as possible each season while at the same developing talent for the future.

Eventually guys like Ratliff, Will Montgomery, Jared Allen, Antrel Rolle, Alan Ball and Tracy Porter will get replaced but right now they are the best we got.

That's a good point.  In order to enjoy the game more, though, it's important to get some satisfaction from watching the young players grow and improve in a rebuilding team.

In order to enjoy the game more, it's important to...beat the other team.
