Another RBI double for Castro.  Shocked that he hit two straight balls on a line drive.

Castro grounds into a fielder's choice and Bryant is out at home.  Please stop playing him.  Or at least quit hitting him 6th. He is the worst hitter in baseball right now.

Castro has 8 hits in his last 23 AB with only 4 K's in those 23 AB.

I was unaware hitting had picked up so much that everyone else in the game right now is doing better than that.

5-0 Cubs on 11 hits in the 6th.  So great to get contributions from Castro, Soler, and Ross.

Make that 9 for his last 24.

Arrieta is dealing.  If we can sneak into one od the wildcards, he's the guy I want on the mound.  Hopefully we get a couple more runs and they can get him out of the game with a relatively low pitch count.  He has a huge start on Sunday.  Lester is apparently going to pitch on Friday now with Hendricks moving back to Saturday.

Despite the results, I don't think Arrieta was really on tonight.  He didn't miss a ton of bats, and he was falling behind batters all night.

That's just how good he is now...even on a night where it didn't seem like everything was working, he was still capable of throwing a game like this.

Today is apparently only the second game all season Castro has had two extra base hits on the same game.  Kind of illustrates how bad his season has been.  Let's hope it is not his last this year.

I would definitely bet on Starlin in that wager

The Cubs' Twitter account just retweeted this:

Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka
Jake Arrieta: 9 straight quality starts.
1.37 ERA in 65.2 IP, 37 Hits, 63/16 K/BB, 1 HR allowed (1 HR hit) over span.

Kershaw and Greinke get a lot of attention because they had/have the long scoreless streaks...but Arrieta has been just as good over the last couple of months.

Hopefully Haren gives us a chance at 7 tomorrow.  It would be awesome to get out of Pittsburgh two games back of them.

Arrieta hasn't allowed more than 4 ER in any start this year.

Chris Sale has allowed 7 ER in each of his last two starts.

Arrieta is the best starting pitcher in Chicago this year.

Wasn't the season over a week ago?  I'm confused.

We hardly notice it anymore---at least when Cubs get a bunch of hits and score some runs---but Cubs quietly struck out 14 times tonight.

And for anyone to talk about his entire season, any description of it has to include that it has been terrible.  That, however, is different from complaining that RIGHT NOW he is the worst hitter in the game.
