Really need LaStella or Baez up ASAP so Castro can take some time off.  Can't keep his bat in a lineup that struggles so much.  Release Soriano and go with a 5 man bench finally.

Much rather have Richards than Soriano.

I think I'd rather have Edwin Jackson than Soriano.

Another rain delay.  Really, this has to be the worst weather year in Cubs history.

Sounds like this game isn't going to be resumed.  Just awful weather this year.

Hurts losing a Lester start.   Really need to take these next two in Pittsburgh.  We can be two games back of the bucs with a strong showing.

Do both teams have a say a in when a game is made up?  Obviously we wanted no part of a doubleheader in this series with our rotation depth issues and Richard being dfa'd again.

Lester might start Thursday against the Giants.

I would imagine both teams have a say.  The Cubs have 2 open dates in Sept before they go to Pitt, so that would be my guess.

No.  It's strictly up to the home team to set the new time and date.   The only restrictions are the date can't violate the CBA provisions (I forget the maximum # of days a team can play without an off-day) without a waiver from the players on both teams and the game can't be rescheduled to a date the visiting team already has a scheduled game in another city.

Looking at the Cubs' schedule, they and the Pirates have an off-day on Monday September 14th before they start a three day three game series in Pittsburgh.  Sunday September 13th the Cubs finish a series in Philly so expect the rainout to be played on that Monday if the Cubs & Pirates players are willing to give up the off-day or the Tuesday September 15th night game will be made into a split or twilight-doubleheader.

September 14 is the Pirates' only day off in September, so I doubt they'll play it that day.

With as few off days as the Pirates have, I'm surprised they didn't push to play it today.

Both teams would likely need to have the 26th man start the game, so they would likely want time to line up their minor league rotations.  A double header with the expanded rosters wouldn't be a big deal to either team in Sept.

Doesn't surprise me they won't play it today or tomorrow.  May be better for both teams to play it in September when they're not limited to a 25-man roster (26 on doubleheader days).

Loaded with one out for Soler.  Really need to get at least a run here.

Soler walks.  1-0 Cubs with Castro now up and 1 out.  Is it too much to ask for him to finally get a hit?
