Maddon slipped down into the tunnel and called his agent to see if he has an escape clause in his contract.

Is running at will on Lester going to be a thing?

Yes, for the next seven years.

I'm ready for Castro to not be the shortstop.

Poor defense by Soler tonight.  Had trouble picking up ball hit to RF early in the game, then just now looked like he didn't go hard after what looked like a catchable flyball, followed by a poor throw to 2B.

Not an auspicious debut for the 2014 Cubs so far.  Reminding myself it's just first game of the season.

It's been a theme the last four years that the Cubs come out of spring training just looking like they're not ready to play real games.  It has looked like that again tonight...hopefully, it's just a one night thing and Maddon has them more prepared than Quade/Sveum/Renteria.

Not a good night when the best performance is by the LOOGY.  He was impressive, though.

We have 3 catchers.  Lester is out of the game, why is Montero still on the bench?

Another leadoff double.  Maybe they can get him around this time?

So he could pinch hit for Lester.
