The announcers were just saying that the strike called earlier forced Soler to swing at that one.

Rizzo swings at a ball that bounces.

Can't blame the ump on that one. That's just awful hitting.

0-8 with RISP, but the bad strike zone has impacted at least two of those ABs.  And two more were Olt and Lester, which were automatic outs anyway.

The Chicago Cubs certainly do challenge the notion that there's no such thing as clutch hitting.

What is it about the Cubs and throwing balls into CF on steal attempts?  It doesn't matter who is playing C/SS/2B, they seem to do it about once a game.  And other teams seem to do it against the Cubs about once a month.

Terrible announcing.  Terrible home plate umpire.

Automate the strike zone.

Brandon McCarthy ‏@BMcCarthy32
if this is the new strike zone I think you could convince pitchers to use a 10 second pitch clock

I hope Maddon doesn't wait too long to pull the plug on Olt at third.  Really, they should be using 2B and 3B to audition La Stella and Alcantara for 2B once Bryant comes up.

Well one new addition looks great. Not for the Cubs, but still.

Coke warming in the bullpen.  Seems weird that the only lefty is the first one up.

First and third with no outs in the 5th.  Disappointing that this is about to turn into a blowout.

What's with Lester not throwing to bases?  Is this a real thing?

How did Lester have the year he did last year without holding runners on base?  That's a major, major problem.
