I predict a no hitter for Hendricks today.

If I'm wrong, no one will remember.  If I'm right, I will be king of the board!

There's a decent chance the anemic Marlins lineup will be no-hit at some time during the season.

But on the other triple, where he klutzed into the wall: would a decent left fielder or a guy positioned correctly have had a chance to catch it?  Or did his clumsiness on that one really make no difference? Or at most only klutzed a double into a triple, rather than actually costing an out?

It was very catchable.  I'm hoping it was opening day jitters and not a sign of how awful his defense is going to be.  Previously I assessed his defense as "passable" or maybe "below average" but not Holliday or Adam Dunn or Glenallen Hill bad.  Yesterday was bad.

Alex Gordon was horrible in the outfield when he was first moved.  He worked hard and became recognized as a decent oufielder.  I think Kyle has the same make up.

Curt, Gordon is a five time Gold Glove award winner.

Interesting that Schwarber is the surviving outfielder versus LHP, at least so far.  I had wondered whether Joe might leave Happ in CF with Almora in RF and Zobrist in LF.

Maybe spring should be discounted, but I'd be putting Happ in the lineup every single day until he started slowing down.  At the very least, not much of a reward for hitting the first pitch of the season for a home run.

Fun fact:  Ian Happ hit 33 home runs in 227 minor league games.  He's hit 25 home runs in 116 major league games.

As Theo likes to say, player development is not linear.

The Cubs like Schwarber's chances against former Rule 5 pick Caleb Smith's change up is the reason he is getting the start.

Yes, that was my point.  At first, he was horrible.  He made himself a Gold Glove.

I guess in fairness, it does look like WGN's box is a little low.

The box isn't even close.
