Russell hacking away at pitches out of the zone. No pitch close to the zone through 5 pitches, but it's a full count anyway.

Weak foul ground ball on the 6th consecutive pitch out of the zone.

Another weak foul on the 7th consecutive obvious ball.

Finally walks on the 8th consecutive ball.

Cubs 28th w/ RISP coming in at .193, ahead of only tanking White Sox and awful Giants.

What is a meaningless stat for $500?

Sure, meaningless.

Heyward continues to get worse, meanwhile.

Cubs burn Almora when the Cardinals make a pitching change, La Stella takes the AB against Norris (and Ks). So the bench is empty in the 9th unless Zobrist is able to take an AB with his bad back.

Bryant Ks on 3 pitches leading off the 9th against Norris. Pitch was far out of the zone.

Weak pop by Rizzo, 2 outs.

Another ugly game for the Cubs. They've played what, one all around good game this year? Two?

Schwarber quickly down 0-2. Took a pitch right down the middle for strike one, then fouled off a pitch at shoulder level for strike 2.

The only link above that has anything to do with team success is the first, and that lists about 8 teams that ended up with good records despite poor RISP stats, an incomplete list that doesn't mention other factors.

Cubs lose again.

They really should've addressed this really dysfunctional offense in the offseason.
