So we just need the offense to 6 runs a game every game to be in second place or 7 runs to be in first place.  Yep, all the offenses fault.

Where have I said that the pitching has been any good? I specifically said there is no part of the team that has impressed yet. Pitching has been a significant issue, duh.

Try breaking the offense down by team wins and losses. I think you'll see a discrepancy. And let's be real. Many of the Cubs runs in two of their games were very fortunate or outright gifts (Atlanta, Milwaukee).

This was in response to me saying the starting pitching is the problem. I looked at the games, the offense would have to be record setting to affect the outcome of the season so far. If you want to **** about something **** about the problem.

The bullpen has been excellent so far. If you can’t see that then you have unrealistic expectations.

No, it was in response to you saying the Cubs are 11th in runs scored despite playing fewer games then some other teams.

There are several problems with this team at the moment.

NL Ranks in WAR
Position players 4th
Starters 14th
Relievers 6th

One of those isn't like the others.  The offense isn't playing up to it's potential, but the starters underperformance is *the* problem with the team currently.  Every single year you complain about the Cubs RISP average and the last 3 years the Cubs have been to the NLCS and won the World Series.

Cubs have 14 runs in their 8 losses, 61 runs in their 7 wins.

Two of those wins along with 18 of those runs came in wins over the Marlins who are 3-10 against non Cubs teams.

Of the other runs, 13 were all but given to them by the Brewers and Braves. Total run numbers look much better than the action on the field.

5, 4, 6, 8, 5, 1, 6, 2.  4.63 runs/game

That is how many runs the Cubs have given up in their losses.  You can at best blame the offense for 2 of those.

10, 5, 0, 2, 0, 6, 4 3.85 runs/game

That is how many runs the Cubs have given up in their wins.   The offense should get credit for 4 of those wins.

Let this sink in the Cubs have allowed 3 runs or less in 4 games all year.  The have scored 4 runs or more in 8 times.  If the pitching was better the Cubs record would be better.  If the offense was as bad as you think it is the Cubs record  would be much, much worse.

Almora, Baez, Bryant, Rizzo, Contreras, Schwarber, Russell, Heyward, Lester.

Switching Zobrist for Heyward and moving Zobrist to leadoff and Almora to 8th would make in the best lineup if Zobrist was healthy.  Weaver and his change up make him more of a reverse split guy, but he's pretty neutral in the R vs L department.

Really sloppy play by the Cubs in the top of the first.

Schwarber looked like he started coming in Fowler's ball he should've gone back on, so he barely caught the ball.

Lester hits Bader with a pitch, then Contreras throws the ball into CF on a steal attempt and Bader goes to third.

Carpenter lines out to Baez and Bader was going on contact, so should be an easy double play...but Baez throws wildly and Bader is able to get back.

Then Lester throws a wild pitch and Bader scores anyway.

Bader HBP, 2 steals and ends up at third.  Carpenter hits a line drive to Baez with the infield in and overthrows Bryant on what would have been an inning ending double play.  Lester throws a wild pitch and Bader scores.  Ozuna strikes out.  Cardinals 0-1 with RISP, but still lead 1-0.

Maybe the Cubs are out of practice? That was a crappy first inning.

Now the Cardinals play sloppy defense and turn a Baez double into a triple.

Bryant singles to tie the game.
