It also wouldn't be shocking if Rizzo's mental state still wasn't 100%. I'm sure the Parkland shooting is still on his mind at all times. That has to impact how well he can focus.

It did look to me like Rizzo was starting to come around during the Milwaukee series. He was hitting the ball harder in a couple of games, but had nothing to show for it because of the wind/weather conditions and because he was hitting the ball right at fielders. The weather looks good for hitting the next two days and all weekend in St. Louis, so hopefully he'll get going.

Interesting.  Your mind went to Parkland, mine went to cancer.  I think you're right, but if it were the "c" word, Rizzo strikes me as the kind of guy who would want to fight through it and keep it quiet as long as possible.  Let's hope it's nothing more than worried about Bryant getting hit in the head.

If Rizzo was getting treated for cancer there is no way he could be playing.

Probably true.  Too bad we can't get a doctor's opinion.  :)  Then I would go with, he's not feeling good or strong, but fears getting checked out.  Hopefully it's none of that.

Well slumps happen and I agree with Br. He was hitting the ball without results and has been visibly frustrated.

Not an impressive first inning for Hendricks...HR, HR, K, groundout, line out.

Get ready for a 15-13 kind of game.

Hendricks looks much better in the second inning...2 groundouts and a K.

Rizzo genuinely seems to love leading off.

Perhaps Kyle should scrap the curveball tonight. 3-1 Rockies now. Three solo homers.

The all-or-nothing Cubs lineup is fully in "nothing" mode right now.

Apparently, Neifi Perez is the guest hitting coach for today's game. Just rollover and ground everything to 2nd...
