A pop foul to Rizzo from Alonso, and the Cubs win the game.  Miller's ERA gets cut in half to a mere 31.50.

Mets announcers mention that the Mets are 15-39 at Wrigley Field since 2003.  Wow.

I wonder if the Mets will let a position player pitch today.  Earlier the Mets announcers were talking about the time Doug Dascenzo came in to pitch the ninth inning of a blowout; I remember that game. It was fun to watch because it was so rare back then.
Dascenzo had a 0.00 ERA in four career appearances.

Cubs had 8 hits w/ RISP, more than tripling their season total, I think.

This is baseball. On the second pitch of the Baez AB, Hildenberger threw a terrific slider. On the third pitch, he threw a horrific slider.

Javier Baez:
45.6% K rate
1.5% BB rate
50.4% contact rate
40.9% chase rate

MLB pitchers hitting:
47.3% K rate
3.0% BB rate
64.4% contact rate
31.9% chase rate

Baez currently has a .730 OPS, 29 pts better than the MLB average despite having plate discipline worse than a pitcher

Breakout set of games has the Cubs batting average over .200 (.201), and OBP up over .300 (.301).  They are now up to 19th in slugging, 23rd in OPS, 22nd OBP.
Interesting that the low-budget Yankees are bottom in slugging, OPS, and above only the Cubs in BA.

A win puts the Cubs back at .500

Heyward and Pederson both off again.

Yeah, let’s bring back same lineup that scored 16 runs yesterday against the other lefty.

Mets are one of only four NL teams over .500.

A Cubs win tonight would mean only three NL teams are over .500, pending Padres (10-10) game against Dodgers tonight.

Boog is having a bad night.  He said the bloop single dropped in front of Happ in right.  It was Bryant.  Then he had the third out as a grounder to Bote at short.

I'm only looking at the National League (why do the media seem to always want to compare stats across all 30 teams in both leagues combined these days?), and noticing that the Cubs have the fewest hits, the lowest batting average, and the highest ratio of strikeouts to hits in the league.  Only the Nationals have more hits than strikeouts (at 131-128).

We are fourth in stolen bases (with 11), and there are three teams behind us in OBP, so that's something.
