I've been pretty pleased with how Ross has handled the pitching staff.  Even though Maples didn't work out, a strikeout pitcher is the right choice in the abomination that is extra innings these days.  And it would have been so easy to go with the experience of Kyle Ryan in the 11th.  Nope.  Wanted the strikeout stuff of Steele.

On a related subject, I wonder if Alzolay, Maples, Steele, and Thompson have combined for more WAR in the first 30 games of 2021 than all homegrown Cubs pitchers did from 2012 through 2020.

The Athletic has had several articles in recent days/weeks in which they kept pointing out that the Dodgers have become the team the Cubs hoped to be after 2016.  So it is fun to see the Cubs sweep a double header from them, one a rout against Kershaw and the other a late in the game come from behind win.
