I channel surfed and watched the Bears mostly on offense specifically Claypool.

He made a highlight catch on a ball 2 yards out of bounds.  He was open several times over the middle and twice there were horrible throws.  Then that deep post with Shelly easily beat that would have been a TD.  But fans will still see him as a bust.  I’m looking forward to what can be with Fields and Claypool having an off season to work together.

Claypool and a reanimated Bears awtta be interesting in 2023.

Good drafts combined with coaching look like :

 NYG's

 NYJ's

 Lion's

The only thing that screwed over Jets was Zach meltdown.

Also : How does San Francisco keep doing what they do ?

Are we about to join their ranks soon ?

Considering we sit at 3-11. I'd say we have to wait and see.. A long way to go. Can fields start working the pocket and get some resemblance of a passing game going. Or is it going to continue to be helter skelter backyard football..

I'd say it takes a truckload of optimism to think this can be turned around in one offseason. Bears have been trending worse, not better the last few years....

Thank god we got rid of Robbie Gould when we did.

Last I heard he was addicted to drugs living on the streets of Natchez Mississippi.

Sorry to see Minnie go and there is no more NFC Norf giving representation in the playoffs.

At the same time the NYG's show what a motivated coaching staff and great draft picks can achieve in one season.

How about Miami. They come in with a third string QB, seventh round draft choice. The kid played pretty darn well. If that was the Bears, there would've been more three and outs than you would care to count. Then the excuse would be, "third string QB" blah blah blah. Instead of calling it like it is.. This team hasn't drafted for sh!t for years...

Look at the kid in san fran. Playing lights out. "oh he has a line".. "he has receivers".. You have to make the play, and that's what these kids are doing.

I hope for our sake that the Bears finally start drafting, and making some smart moves in free agency. And, I hope this coaching staff can get it done. Only time will tell. This team has been living off the past.. Time to get back to being the Monsters of the Midway..

FWIW my thoughts on WC weekend turned to the new HCs (especially Daboll, Pederson and Ebrflus)....

When they coaching search was going on, I hoped for either Daboll (who seems to develop QBs) or Pederson (who has SB experience). Instead they choose (not very surprisingly) a defensive minded HC in Eberflus....

Both Daboll and Pederson now have taken their teams to the playoffs and won their 1st playoff games with those teams. Meanwhile Eberflus has taken the Bears team to a 14 loss season with a 10 consecutive losing streak and gotten the 1st overall pick. That's some Bears "brain trust" decision making there for sure....

Now, Eberflus got a raw deal to be sure- lots of JV talent with few really NFL caliber players compared to those other teams. And that seems to have been the plan for the Bears "brain trust" all along and they did need to flush the salary cap hell the previous idiots hired by the "brain trust" put them in......

How in the world can I think this "brain trust" has/is going to make the right decisions ? They have to have a monumentally terrific offseason of drafting and FA signing to just become an AVERAGE NFL team. Much less challenge for a championship. And the realistic chances of that are really, really slim with past history of the Bears "brain trust" to go on.....

I guess maybe its their time ? (like a broken clock- right twice a day ?). That's all I got right now........

Break the McCaskey curse. Please......

Yes, the Bears should have kept Mack, Roquan and Robert Quinn.

Bears could have finished with 6 or 7 wins instead of 3.   Yipee.

The key to the whole thing is Fields.  If he's the guy and can get some help in the offseason he could start the trend toward winning.

Giants were ready to get rid of Jones before this season and Trevor Lawrence is coming into his own this year.   Not all QBs develop the same.  See Hurts.

Big year in '23 for the Bears.  Fields has to show marked improvement.

Faster reads/releases and taking the plays that are there would be a nice start.....
