I'm a Rodriguez optimist, but he was unable to close the save, walking a guy with two outs and getting pulled. At least today, he didn't command his offspeed. Threw several fastballs that just missed, hitter laid off, and ump didn't give him any breaks on a couple that were an inch high.
I really like his fastball, though. It's both fast and it seems to have a lot of movement. I think he can probably get away throwing fastballs most of the time, his velocity/movement is so good. But *if* he could hypothetically also get his breaking ball over with reasonable consistency, he might hypothetically become really effective.
Think he's got a chance to be an integral part of a winning bullpen.
