The bullpen melted down, but don't forget that the Cubs also played some really sloppy baseball tonight. Heyward's error in the first, Schwarber getting thrown out on a dumb SB attempt in the second (which cost them at least one run, and maybe a big inning that could've won the game), Contreras rounding third base too far on a ball that didn't leave the infield...it wasn't as sloppy as Monday, but it was pretty bad.
Also, from watching in person in the second deck near third base, Bryant looked bad. He was consistently late on Teheran's 90 mph fastball. Two month long DL stints didn't fix his shoulder last year, and tonight didn't give me much confidence that having October off helped him. Hopefully I just caught him on an off night where he just wasn't picking up Teheran's pitches.
