Jason Heyward in an honest moment, when informed that Joe Maddon said its the best the manager has seen him hit the ball as a Cub: "That's not hard to say."

Have to say this for Heyward, as bad as he’s hit he hasn’t tried to blame anyone else or pretend everything in fine. He’s handled sucking about as well as you could ask anyone to handle it.

This pitching staff might be historically bad. Two batters in, Cubs trail 2-0.

87 mph fastball right down the middle to Yelich.

As fat a pitch as you will ever see.

Hendricks gets the next three quickly after the Yelich homer.

Joe Sheehan @joe_sheehan
With that Yelich home run, #Cubs pitchers have allowed runs in 30 of 68 frames this season, and in 14 of their last 22.

Joe Sheehan @joe_sheehan
The #Cubs have yet to get through four innings of a game without allowing a run. Their longest shutout streak, including across consecutive games, is five innings.

After Zobrist singled to start the game, Davies has retired 9 in a row. He has dominated the Cubs since the start of last season while being generally horrible against the rest of the league.

Yelich single, Cain to third. Cubs really screwed up by letting the Brewers get both those guys last offseason.

Shaw single, 3-0. Cubs pitching is so bad.

Kyle pitching down the middle leads to bad results.

The difference between Davies and Kyle is so far Davies is hitting his spots.

Two on, one out for Schwarber and Contreras.

Schwarber with an easy fly ball on the first pitch. Cubs are getting themselves out on the first pitch a lot today.

Cubs waste the chance to score some runs.
