Prior to Schwarber’s bunt single, he had struck out 8 times in previous 9 ABs.

Hamels through 8 on 105 pitches. Could they let him finish it?

Are teams allowed to proactively schedule double headers to avoid an almost certain postponement the next day? Right now, it looks like there is next to no chance the Cubs will be able to play on Sunday. And if by some chance they do play, the conditions will be about like they were in that game against the Braves last year where it was obvious they shouldn't have played.

This early in the season when the players aren't run down and they've had extra off days because of home openers, it seems like both teams would prefer to just go on and play two tomorrow. Otherwise, they're either playing in what really should be non-playable conditions on Sunday, or they have to give up a mutual off day later in the season when the extra rest is more valuable.

I thg hink fans holding tickets for Sunday might have a problem with that plan.

Well, they’re probably not going to be able to use the tickets Sunday anyway. If they do play Sunday, I’ll guess that  a lot of them will stay home anyway instead of sitting outside in 35 degree wet and windy weather.

Let them come to the second game tomorrow or trade their tickets in for a future game.

What if the broadcaster(s) cannot re-schedule the game on short notice and you are therefore unable to watch the game on your tv/tablet/computer?  Still think it’s a good idea?

A move like that would often mean a pitcher going on one day less rest.
