Rizzo HRed to left, Baez HRed to right.

I’ll say it again...I love watching these guys take the ball the other way...

Cubs have gained five games on the Brewers in the last 10 games. Actually now ahead of the Brewers by % points.

Two games behind Cards.

We'll go as far as the bullpen can support us.  Not a whole lot more to it than that.

Change-up is a key pitch for Q, for sure, but he threw 33 curves tonight compared to 13 changes. About 2/3 of his sinkers and 4-seamers were strikes tonight too. Obviously, when he is commanding his fastballs and throwing a mix of pitches, he can and will be effective.

Wow, would be great to have the Sox-version of Quintana all season. Hoping.

Those 13 changes make those 33 curves a lot more effective.

So, now having seen EL Mago's latest trick on video...

Why was he not declared out for being out of the baseline on that play?

On the TV broadcast, they said the rule is you can't go more than 3 feet outside the baseline. The baseline is not the chalk marking - it is a straight line from the runner to the base. Judgment call for the ump, could easily go the other way.

Yeah, that seems to be the theory. But even so, wasn’t that more than three feet?

Or maybe Javy is just so obscenely cool that makes his own flucking baseline.

Ryan doesn't have much control, but when he gets the ball close enough for guys to hit it, I like his groundball profile a lot.  K'd Muncy to end it, with that long side-arm fastball.

That long side-arm delivery is understandably hard to control, but seems kinda tough on left-handed hitters if he can throw strikes.

His walk rates in the minors actually aren't that bad.  Maybe easier there, when you're less scared to throw it down the middle when you get behind.

Around 50° - light winds from the right field corner to the left field corner - 40% chance of sprinkles

We should see Taylor Davis on Thursday (day game after a night game)

I think that's doubtful considering that Lester is scheduled to pitch that game. As long as Contreras is healthy, he is Lester's personal catcher.

In that case, Davis should be in there today.
