If you plot Javy's improvement on a curve, pretty scary to imagine how good he could be in 2-3 years.  Doesn't always play out that way, but given his unbelievable natural talent - wow.

I'm skeptical that Kintzler can continue to be really effective having lost so much off his fastball, but at least he seems to have remembered he used to be a strike thrower.

So, do we still have people arguing to move Baez off SS when Russell comes back?

Great play by Baez, and great scoop by Rizzo.  Grounder deep in the hole, very long throw, but the speed with which he got the ball from glove to hand to throw was fabulous.

I'm old enough to remember Shawon Dunston and his rocket arm.  But I have this memory that he routinely used or needed a plant and a hop to unleach the rockets.  Rey Sanchez didn't throw it as hard or impressively, but actually got it from glove to Grace more quickly.

It's not just that Baez is a really good SS.  It's that he's clearly hitting better since he stopped being moved around so much.  And there's no compelling case that Russell should be playing everyday anyway, given his output the last two seasons.  And that's not even acknowledging the elephant in the room.

But - Joe said "Addy is my SS" so...

This bullpen is bad. Even the guys who are good have been bad so far.

Addison has a better glove than Javy not to mention just 3 years ago he also had over 20 HRs and damn near 100 RBIs.

Not Cishek's fault.  Joe just abused him too much last year.

Look at where the Cubs are - just above .500, about where many of us predicted.  What have been the problems already?

1. Dumpster fire bullpen
2. Not enough starting-caliber OF
3. Catching depth

It's not as if any of this wasn't predictable.  It's just that the Cubs chose not to address any of it.
