Friday day baseball working in the Cubs favor. Cards delayed in Washington. That game turning into a night affair it looks like.

The game in D.C. has not started.  I wonder if the Cards have sent their pitcher (Jack Flaherty) ahead or if he'll get in late like the rest of the team?

The Friday forecast in Chicago is for cool and breezy but not threatening.

Didn't see any of yesterday's game but noticed Bryant came out early, while all the other regulars stayed in.

Did he get hurt or something happen to him?

I heard leg tightness, which is why he was DH for both games.  He would have played if the DH wasn't an option, so not a big deal.

Lots of guys came out when the Cubs were up big.  Davis for Rizzo, etc.

He was crying because Chris keeps making fun of him.

Thanks much, and I hadn't realized other guys came out too.

Wish they had put Davis in for Contreras instead. And anybody to give Baez some rest.
Leaving aside the much discussed issue of whether Russell should return to Chicago, if it's not him, they need to bring up somebody legit to back up SS and spot start.  I do not want Baez (or Contreras) to be 1969-ed.

Great first inning from Hendricks. That's rare.

In two innings, Flaherty already has 8 swings-and-misses, 5 with the slider.

Really dumb throw to second on that Flaherty bunt. But it looks like it worked out.

Cardinals are challenging anyway.

Rizzo 3 run homer gives the Cubs a 3-0 lead. Flaherty already over 60 pitches with 1 out in the 3rd.

Cubs cruising. Man, this team looks *really* good right now...

Bullpen the only weakness, and if they're in this position at the trade deadline, I have to imagine there's cash to add relief help.

Flaherty with 16 swings and misses through 4.

But, walk-walk-homer. Nice.

Hendricks with very low pitch count, unlike Flaherty.
