Would a ballplayer in MLB take a indefinite leave because of a divorce?  Seems dubious to me.

Zobrist isn't retiring, presumably.  But he makes what, $12 million this year?  It does make you wonder ow much it would take to get Kimbrel on a 1-year deal.

Urena's got the ground-ball stuff going today.  Another groundout.

Didn't Ryne Sandberg retire (the first time) because of marital difficulties?

Urena took Schwarber’s grounder off his pitching hand. We’ll see if that hurts him.

He's contemplating retirement.  He's soon-to-be 38, hasn't been playing much and isn't off to a great start.  He's voluntarily ceding time to Bote, which is great for the team player angle, but probably says something about his fire to compete too.

Ask Dave Martinez.

I love what Zo hs brought to the team, but given our feigned financial woes and the bullpen, obviously his retirement wouldn't be entirely bad news in theory.  It just seems odd to me given how good he was last season that he would retire based on a bad 30-game stretch, especially since he also had a mysterious absence in ST, unless there was a health issue.

As Addison Russell is announced for his first at-bat at Wrigley in 8 months, there were plenty of boos, but definitely some cheers. I even saw a couple fans stand up to cheer.

After Russell struck out, he got a few boos and that was it.

Walk, single to 3rd again for Bryzzo.  Can they avoid the double play this time?

Baez gets caught off 3rd on a grounder.

Russell grounds out to end it.

Hendricks puts the first two on, but gets out of it with a DP.  Nice.

Urena has a terrific fastball, really good stuff.  Heavy sinkers, lots of movement at 95-96, and he's been clipping the corners a lot.  The Rizzo single was a terrific AB.  Urena had four strikes/fouls on his hard, moving stuff, and all of them on the pitch chart were perfectly on an edge/bottom, and the Rizzo single was also sinking out of the bottom of the zone too.  Really good job by Rizzo to stay alive and then to get the hit.

The Baez hit Urena got the ball up a little bit, but it was sinking so hard that Javy still was barely able to lift it over the SS.  Really, really heavy fastball.

Hendricks still only at 60 pitches.
