That was the second time in 17 games against the Brewers at Wrigley that the Cubs have scored more than 3 runs.

That's pretty amazing.  Nice to sneak out the series anyway.

VERY tough hitting at Wrigley the last two days (actually, the last several days)!

NO DOUBT weather was a key part of why Brewers managed 4 hits yesterday in 15 innings and TWO runs in 24 innings overall!  The tough weather and tough Cub pitching!

We may not have scored much, but it certainly wasn't hitting weather (ask the Brewers!)!

FABULOUS home stand!

Lester is a fuching magician, man.  He keeps outproducing his peripherals to the point where it's obviously no coincidence.

And Lester's peripherals are pretty great so far this year, but he's still outpitching them. After tonight's game, his FIP is 2.71. He's striking out a batter per inning, and has walked less than 2 per 9 IP. Last year, his hot start looked like smoke and mirrors and his results were good. This year, his underlying performance has been dominant...and the results have been even more dominant.

His hard-contact % is pretty terrifying (over 40%(!) coming into today, vs. 27% career).  Also, velocity is way down.  Otherwise yes, his peripherals are definitely better than last year.

The unstoppable Christian Yelich was 2-12 with 3 BB. .167/.333/.417, which raised his away OPS.

Prescient:

His quote about Javy Baez remains one of the best ways to describe a player I've ever seen. When asked in Jan. 2014 about Baez and Correa: "Both could be All-Stars; Baez could be a religion." @ProfessorParks https://twitter.com/RA_Parker/status/931243290137124865

I could say the same thing about your silly insinuations and Yelich.

One I like numbers and Yelich’s home/road splits are huge so it is fun to watch them. Two, I know this might be hard for you to understand, but Miller park is a really lefty friendly for hitters. It is a perfect park for Yelich to play in, that doesn’t make him a bad player or an average player. It is just like Arenado in Colorado. He’s a great player with a large home/road split. It is what it is. I’d post the CBSSports article on the Brewers home/road spilts, but it seems to trigger you like Luke Weaver and Chris.

You're a bit confused. It was others who were triggered by my comment years ago that it would be nice for the Cubs to have an arm like Weaver's in the system because nobody is supposed to be impressed with anything involving the St. Louis organization. Ever since then they mockingly bring his name up on random occasions.

Remember when there was a legitimate debate about who we would rather keep/trade between Baez and Soler? Can you imagine if we were watching Javy do all this for the Royals?

Joe West followed by Angel Hernandez.   The Cubs will probably see CB Bucknor in DC.  At least Angel won't be behind the plate during the series with the Reds.

Umpires for #Cubs (24-14) at #Reds (18-23):
HP: Ed Hickox
1B: Roberto Ortiz
2B: Dana DeMuth
3B: Angel Hernandez
