Cubs manufacture a run around an infield hit, a throwing error, a grounder, and sac fly.

4-2

Not a bad start for Yu on the whole. Certainly it’s progress.

11 K's and 0 BB's is pretty terrific actually.

Ryan looks good but it seems he struggles against lefties.

Typical Carl in high leverage situations.

Joe watches the same games we do, right? How has he not learned that Edwards just isn't good when it's a critical situation?

IBB to load the bases in the 10th with Brach on the mound. That's probably not a smart move.

Puig with a walkoff hit.

Cubs lose, thanks in part to the fact that Maddon just can't stop putting Edwards in the highest leverage situations. The Cubs need to trade him so Maddon doesn't have that option.

Maybe if Darvish could get through the 6th or 7th once in a blue moon. That might help.

Not like he’s spoiled for choice. It’s a bad bullpen, without a closer - we’ve been lucky so far but that will even out as guys find their level.

Maddon doesn't have many choices, but Edwards has proven he's rarely a good option when it matters the most.

It's Maddoning to see him constantly trot him out there.  I think of "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity."   I agree.  Trade him and remove the temptation.  I couldn't help but notice that Edwards didn't blow any games for us while he was at Iowa.

Bote wasn't himself tonight.  In the last inning he ole-ed that hard hit to his right, then he let the ball play him on the throw from Bryant.  His strike-outs made it a Bad Bote night.

Tonight's lineup is now an hour late.  There must be something going on.

Moving Heyward down was necessary.  But Schwarber leading off?
