Really bad umpiring tonight. At least they got the second challenge right.

Kimbrel would have been a better choice in that spot.

Cubs have the top of their lineup up in the bottom of the 9th, and Schwarber and Bryant go down of 4 pitches.

Didn't look like a swing to me.

Yeah I agree, that was a borderline check swing from McCutchen at best.  The MLB Network guys all agreed he held up.

Brach was unlucky though, that was a good pitch.

Contreras is catching now, so he doesn't get a full day off.

Brach topped out at 97 mph tonight by the way.  The MLB guys said he hadn't topped 95 all year until tonight.

The Cubs just found a way to lose tonight. This should've been an easy win.

Bleacher Nation tweeted out a picture on McCutchen, the bat was last his knee. It was a swing.

Cubs lose.

The umpires missed two calls tonight, but the Cubs should've scored at least 8 runs. MLB umpiring sucks, but Cubs hitters were awful tonight too.

That doesn't make it a swing.

That doesn't make it a swing.

The only thing missing was a back swing. He broke his wrist, it was well past Schwarber’s check swing to end a game earlier this year.

On the positive side, Darvish looked good again tonight and quite frankly probably looked like his old self more than I ever remember him since he joined the Cubs.  He deserved a better fate.  If the Darvish from his last two games is what we're getting the rest of the season, there are some good things ahead for us.

And we did show some heart coming back in the 8th.  Just too bad Brach and Ryan didn't get the job done.  That pitch Ryan gave up the homer on was probably a pitch CurtOne could have hit out of the park.
