Trib says Barber is out, calf, but nothing about Briggs.  Where'd that come from?

I think it was in the game preview on my ESPN ScoreCenter phone app.

Watch Martz call 50 pass plays on Sunday and then say it was cause he didn't want to "overwork" Forte...     :(

Yaps - That is my concern that the Bears start slinging the ball.  I think we need to run a balanced attack with a slight edge to the run.  We have a big offensive line and letting them get some confidence pounding on the Falcons front 7 is a better way to win then trying the Packers/Saints track meet approach - and get Cutler killed.  Ground and pound early, then start opening the passing attack.

The Swammy says 20-17 Bears, about what I said. But as we all know, a dartboard could be just as accurate...

If we can run the ball, we can win. No one is likely to shred our defense too bad. I have confidence Martz can take advantage if teams start to stack the line to stop the run.
He wants to throw the ball because it shows how smart he is.
If he will run the ball then he is smarter than I thought.

Well apparently not only is Lance Briggs gonna play, he's gonna be sporting some 9/11 commemorative garb:

Actually I like Briggs' stance on this thing.  Good grief if players can wear pink for a month why can't they wear commemorative gear for one Sunday?  Kinda feels like political correctness has overtaken patriotism anymore.

I would not be surprised if more NFL players (on or off the Bears), joined Briggs in this.

I agree though, that the best thing would have been for Briggs to just show up wearing the gear and not make such a big public spectacle about it beforehand.  The Bears have had plenty of distractions this offseason and this is just one more thing.

I'm guessing that his agent decided a little good PR was needed

I would like to see Goodell fine him for that.

If he does, then he [Goodell] will expose himself as being even more of a pompous, out-of-touch d-bag than we all know he already is.
