Corey Graham looked like a cartoon figure or something out there after his ST tackles... looked like he was gonna fall backwards and then he springs right back up

that misfire to Kellen Davis on the gadget play in the red zone...

Are we sure Davis should not have been moving towards where the throw went?

I think you would have seen more emotion from Cutler if it had. Looked to me that Cutler knew he missed an opportunity.

That was just a stupid play to begin with. Martz called a good game for the most part yesterday, but our red zone offense was (once again) very slow out of the gate.  Hopefully when Barber gets back we'll be seeing 3-yd rushing TDs in those situations instead of silly arena league plays like that.

That was a brilliant play to the TE! Everyone followed Cutler to the other side. Had he made that throw, Davis could have crawled into the endzone it was so open. They were raving about it on NFL network.

The people who are downing our OL for the 5 sacks need to realize that one of those sacks was Cutler falling on the ball after he dropped it, and another was Cutler taking off running and not getting back to the line of scrimmage.  Only 3 of the sacks yesterday can legitimately be hung on the OL, although in fairness, Cutler took some pretty big hits after he released the ball too and those actually concerned me more than the sacks.

Yeah the OL had some issues but they are a better unit by miles than the crew that started Game 1 of last season... and, from what I can tell, not too far behind where they were at the end of last year, which is saying something considering all the shuffling that went on during a very abbreviated preseason.

I'm glad we got Corey Graham back. He's an exceptional athlete and one of the better special teamers in the league.

I only saw one of the sack that was a big hit, most of the others he just seemed to get dragged down.
I didn't really pay attention to the hits that weren't sacks.

There was one where he was in our own end zone, threw the ball away and got hammered. It was either Webb or Kellen Davis who got beat on that one.

Kellen is damn near as big as an OT but I don't think we want him matched up on DEs in pass protection too often.

5 sacks?  I thought it was 4.

Still way too many.

What I was really encouraged by was how many times we successfully got ourselves out of 3rd-and-8 or longer.  Obviously it's better not to get into those situations in the first place but when we do it's good to know we have a fighting chance.  And especially now with the new kickoff rule pretty much ensuring we're going to have to sustain drives on a long field more often than before.

Back in the day 3rd-and-long was the kiss of death for our noodle-armed QBs and WRs who always seemed to come up a yard or two short.

I also thought on a couple of those sacks that Cutler held the ball too long waiting for something to happen.
That is how he gets those big chunks but also might lead to him getting killed.

Our OL will get better though.
I think Martz kind of dumb-ed things down a little towards the end to maybe not show anything to the next opponent.

The interior 3 of our OL are going to be really critical to how well Cutler and the offense do this year.

I think we can plan on Webb getting beat several times a game, at least in the early going. As long as Cutler can step up in the pocket we have a chance to survive that, but if a team starts getting pass rush up the middle as well, we're screwed.

That is one thing we know he can do effectively that he didn't do much of yesterday is tuck it and run...

Yeah I noticed that too.  I wonder if that has anything to do with how much weight he's lost?  He's listed at 220 lbs this year (down 13 lbs from his listed weight last year) and based on how he looks I'd be surprised if he even weighs that much. A QB at 235 can take (and deliver) a lot more punishment on the run than a guy that's 220 or less.
