Ah yes the infamous "unbalanced line".

Called by an unbalanced mind, I think.

What the Saints kept doing to nail the Bears pressure defense was run delays up the middle.....of course, they've got actual Offensive Linemen to do this with, unlike the Angelo limited Bears....two glaring reminders of this game: Saints have recievers and offensive linemen that can break a pressure defense, Bears have neither.....thanks to Angelo....send him flowers for Fall.....

Why don't Martz run a "no-huddle" offense.   He seems to never adjust to what's going on in the game.

What I noticed on blocking was that the Saints were often able to neutralize our lineman one on one.   Then they could send the extra guy, a guard or tackle, out after Urlacher and it was up to one guy on the Bears to make the play.  Often times he did.  The Saints ran on us somewhat effectively, but it wasn't a huge factor in the loss.

Offensively, we tend to pull the entire team to the hole and there's this mass of humanity and Forte is expected to lower his head into a pile.  Most the times he gets maybe a yard.

Typical knee jerk reaction.

Not saying the O-line had a great game, they share in the loss along with Martz, Cutler and the receivers.  But the Saints defensive game plan appeared to be load up on the LOS to stop the run and hope Martz abandoned it (which he did) then continue with heavy blitzing (pass and run) and man coverage on the WRs (who still couldn't get open).

So now you have a situation where the Bears have given up on the run, and the Saints know the Bears are passing and can not only let their d-line pin their tails back but also let a couple three  LB/DBs blitz consistently, they know they don't have to worry about the TE because the Bears don't have a guy now that Olsen is gone that can beat them deep, they know they can cover our WRs with single coverage with a single safety deep.

Going into the game I figured there would be some pressure on this O-line Sunday even though the Saints didn't have a legit pass rusher.  On the road indoors in a dome (fast surface), and Martz' playcalling where he calls a lot of plays where Cutler sit back (never rolls out) and waits and waits for long developing routes.  And to top it off you lose your blitz breaking WR early in the game (Bennett) and your other recievers Hester and Sanzenbacker are dropping key 3rd down passes that kill drives which turn the ball over to the Saints offense.

And that offense happens to be one of the best in league led by Drew Brees (recall they put up 34 points on the Packers IN Green Bay).

And you sit here and whine about the O-line...what game were you watching...the Titans?

Dude I think EVERYONE has sat here and whined about the offensive line BUT YOU!  Now some of the things you've said  about the game is true BUT it starts with protection for your franchise QB still.

I can't blame Cutler for anything when he was pressured from the start of the game to the end.  That falls on the o-line and Tice.  Those guys blocking acted like they haven't been coached or taught how to protect the QB!  10 sacks in 2 games is TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE!!!

I can't blame the WR's (except for the 2 drops) because of no protection for the QB to have time to throw them the ball!  Cutler had to do a lot of drop offs to Forte because he didn't have time to set up and throw.   That goes for the TE's as well.  I feel Davis and Spaeth are both capable TE's that can catch BUT they have to stay back to block because of the inefficiencies of the offensive line to pass protect.  Besides it's going to be questionable whether Martz will utilize them during games or not but I won't say defenses wouldn't have to worry about them.   I agree with you about Olsen as well.  I said it was a mistake to trade him too.

I can agree with your assessment of Martz but I won't give the Saints defense the credit you're giving them simply because the Bears didn't make any in-game adjustments to counter what the Saints were doing.  That's coaching!  That's why I made mention of going no-huddle offense when the pass blocking falters constantly to throw off the defense.

I can also agree with your assessment on Brees.  He's one of the best QB's in the league.  But with the defense constantly on the field they tired.

As far as me watching the Titans?  I went to Nashville Aug 27 to see the Bears against them but haven't seen them since.   Were you watching the Texans or whoever has Jauron coaching them.

In Sunday’s loss to the Saints, Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz called 52 passes and 11 runs. Bears coach Lovie Smith says that’s a problem.

“I know the balance as far as run/pass wasn’t there,” Smith said. “All I can say is we’ll get it better. We can’t win football games with that kind of balance.”

Smith and Martz are old friends, and Smith feels a lot of loyalty to Martz because Martz gave Smith his first opportunity to be a defensive coordinator in St. Louis. So as long as Smith is the head coach in Chicago, Martz’s job as offensive coordinator is probably safe.

But it’s clear that Smith realizes Martz can go overboard in his love of the passing game. On Sunday the Saints were selling out to blitz Jay Cutler, sacking him six times and hitting him as he passed several more times. Mixing in some draws to Matt Forte would have, if nothing else, kept the Saints’ defense honest.

And it’s not like the Bears only got pass-happy because they fell behind. Although the final score was 30-13, the Bears were within three points midway through the third quarter, and the game only got out of hand in the fourth quarter — long after Martz had abandoned the running game.

The Bears’ most effective drive on Sunday came in the first quarter, when Forte got things started with a 42-yard run and the Bears mixed runs and passes on the way to going 87 yards in 11 plays and getting in the end zone for the only time on the day. It makes no sense that after that drive, the Bears only ran five more handoffs for the entire game.

Smith is right: The Bears aren’t going to win many games when they call 52 passes and 11 runs. If Martz doesn’t realize that, the Bears have a problem.

Do you expect 5 guys to block 6, 7 or 8 defenders?  If you do then yes our O-line was totally at fault Sunday.

O-line was doing OK through the 3rd quarter.  They had given up only one sack...actualy a non-sack on the safety blitz which was a penalty.  Bears were down by 3...they had the ball.  Anybody complaining about the O-line then?

Then Mr. Everything TE Kellen Davis whiffs on a block and Cutler fumbles...and its 23-13.   Martz turns in Mr. Hyde and the rout is on.

Read Forte's comments...read Matt Bowen's...its not all on the O-line.   Its on the receivers (who could NOT get consistently open)...its on Martz...its on Tice...and Cutler messed up too.

Instead I hear a bunch of crappp about moving Webb back to RT to solve all our problems...

Draw plays, quick slants,  place Cutler in the shotgun formation,  go no-huddle.  Do something because it seemed to me the Saints knew what was coming all game long.  Like I said, you're the ONLY ONE that claims the o-line was doing okay for 3 qtrs?  LOL!!!  Cutler was getting hit so many times during the game alone but of course that doesn't concern you.  Incredible.

Yes Davis whiffed on a block but that wasn't the ONLY reason the o-line looked like crap.  They did the whole game long but of course YOU didn't see that.

And you heard a BUNCH OF CRAP about moving Webb to RT.  You must have super hearing or something.  :)

The o-line fell apart after Carimi got hurt and the Bears were behind and running out of time.  Then and only then did they fall apart.

I blame the WR's more then any other position.  Knox and  Hester couldn't get open with man press and when they did they dropped the ball.  Sanzenbacher dropped one also.

This team needs true big play #1 WR.

I would agree with that.  I expected that the Bears would go after Jones as a big WR.  I don't understand why they didn't.
