He stated that the right situation would be a veteran QB and appropriate compensation.

We have a veteran QB and plenty of unspent money.

I'm all for it. No way he's worse than Roy Williams.

Not saying he wouldnt be a HUGE improvement over what we have, just cant imagine why he would want to come here.  Bad Oline, no qb protection, no running game to balance things out, no supporting wrs.  Probably not going to be a winning season.

I've never been a big Randy Moss fan but I agree with this statement 100%.

Until and unless Earl Bennett comes back our WRs outside of Sanzenbacher are absolute garbage.  Bottom 5 in the league, no question.

We need a WR that is reliable on 3rd down.  Bennett is that guy.  Problem is there is no #1 WR on the team.  Just a bunch of #2s and #3s.  If you do sign Moss who do you cut?

As for Roy Williams I'll give him a pass this week.  He hasn't been practicing much for 2 weeks and was injured during camp too.  He was open on the deep pass that Cutler threw inside and late.  The other pick was not catchable either.  He should have had that one at the goal line though.

Only a cast of fools would think you could take two undersized return specialists (Knox and Hester), and count on them being significant contributors as WRs in the most pass-dependent offense in the league.

Well we have that cast of fools and you have seen the results these last two games.

Cut Roy Williams, or put him on IR since he's always hurt anyway.

I also think we should strongly consider trading either Knox or Hester at the end of this season. Especially if we launch Martz (please God) and install a more traditional offense with a premium on bigger WRs.  Knox is more expendable (due to the kickoff rule change), but Hester would draw more in trade.

I dont think I would have a problem trading Hester.  What is his ratio of bone headed plays/drops to good long catches.  Throwing the punch yesterday just shows dumbness.

I don't think Hester would bring much. The kick off rules change killed a lot of his value as well.

Rather than talk of subtracting talent we should be talking about adding it.

I am talking about adding talent. If Hester could bring us a young, Pro Bowl (or near Pro Bowl) caliber OG or C, I would do that trade in a minute.

There are only three players on our roster who we could get a good player in return for at all:  Hester, Forte and Briggs.

Hester's the one we can most afford to lose out of those three.

OTOH if all Hester is going to bring is a draft pick or two that Angelo and Ruskell are going to waste on a midget DT or a bad FS, then definitely hang on to Hester.

He stated that the right situation would be a veteran QB and appropriate compensation.

Actually there was a third proviso...  a "good team". After the last two weeks I think it's very questionable that the Bears fit into that category.

A cold weather, 1-2 team in a very tough division, with a bottom-5 offense and an aging defense that's being overworked to death, doesn't feel like a situation a guy like Moss would come out of retirement for.  No matter how much green you put into that contract.

.....and lets be honest, he has lost steps. Plus he won't block, or go over the middle. Just go routes. At least that's what was said locally, after last season with him in  a Titan uniform.

You could take the bottom 2 WRs off the Packers roster and they would be better by miles than whoever our 1 and 2 are right now.

Hell there's probably WRs on the Packers practice squad that could compete to start in Chicago.

What we have with the Bears are some really bad WRs, playing in a scheme that exposes their weaknesses.  Deadly combination.
