It should be. He has the best QB he's ever had to work with in his career, yet the offense is worse than anyplace he's ever been including Detroit and San Fran.

We all know there is a lot of talent lacking on this Bears offense but they do have Cutler and Forte and there's no excuse an offense with those two pieces shouldn't be at least competent.

Otto is wrong as always.  The question asked was who's decision was it to move Webb to LT.
Well who's decision was it to move Webb to LT?  Wasn't the GM.  It was Tice.
Who's decision was it to keep Omaliye on this roster?  Tice.
Who's decision was it to put Carimi to RT?  Tice.
The line looked like it was gelling going into the playoffs last year and now it's digressing.    Why Tice gets a pass is beyond me.

I was against Webb winning the LT so early  but Tice made that decision after seeing both Webb and Carimi in training camp.   Webb has struggled in 2 of the 5 games:  the opener when matched against John Abraham and Monday night in the dome.  He struggled early on at RT last year too before settling down in the 2nd half.  Watch him Sunday - I bet you he does pretty well against the top sacker in the NFL, Allen.

Back to Tice.  BTW, that same line that was jelling had Omiyale at LT last season.  Sure you want to go there?

Let's see what Tice has had to work with this year.

Webb - a 7th round draft choice from a Division II school.  Chris Williams - a 1st round bust at tackle.  Garza a FA journeyman guard who is now playing center after Angelo didn't re-sign Kreutz.  Lance Louis.  A 6th round guard who played TE and OT in college.  Spencer a FA center who is now playing RG.  His 1st round OT Carimi has played in 2 games.

Many of these guys are playing new positions due to Tice's decision - it could pay off in the long run.

To top it off Tice is given game plans where often the QB is asked to pass 40 times a ball game and consistently take 7 step drops - passing to WRs that couldn't start for most teams.

"Jay's right," Martz said Thursday. "We've addressed this issue. And until we get it stabilized a little bit in that offensive line … same thing happened to us last year if you'll remember. We have to make sure we're giving him a better chance with some of these quicker throws."

Unbelievable.

I never understood why Martz didn't go with more shorter passes and let Knox/Hester use their speed to get yards after the catch.

And we saw Monday night that Cutler is accurate while throwing on the move - how about some pre-designed plays where he buys some time and rolls out.  Cutler too often just retreats to the same point time after time and waits for receivers to come open.   Our offense is just as predictable as our defense - move Cutler around with some sprint and roll outs.

And if Roy Williams can't get open, throw the ball to Sam Hurd.  He's a big target we lack and has decent hands.

Martz' stubbornness and stupidity have taken years off Cutler's career and may have already cost us this season with only 5 games on the books.

Even if this offense miraculously turns things around, he needs to go.  Some teams have enough talent to overcome bad coaching... we certainly do not.

Agreed, Chifan.  After the number of huge plays the "bend but don't break" D has given up already this season, I'm done giving them a pass. They're equally to blame for our bad start as far as I'm concerned.

What do you want to bet?  But then again mediocre play satisfies you.

He's the reason why Carimi was drafted in the first place.  Do YOU want to go there?  Carimi should be at LT and not Omiyale or Webb.

Tice's decisions.  And it could pay off in the long run?  The line has gotten progressively worse the last 2 years with him on the helm but you feel his decisions will "pay off"?   Interesting.....

The guys on the line looks confused on who to block at times and look like they've never been on an football field at times and  that falls on coaching.

And with Martz calling plays where the opposing defense seems to know what's coming  is a detriment as well.  He doesn't make adjustments at all but he keeps on calling plays where Cutler can't execute because of the poor pass blocking.  No roll outs, won't go no-huddle, don't know how to use the end around play, Martz is just plain worthless as far as I'm concerned.

We can all cry all day about the talent level of the O-line but what can Tice do about that?  He has to work with what he's got.   He's started out with questionable talent and has been playing most the year with 2 of his starters out.

And at this point I would accept mediocre level of play from the O-line.  To expect anything more from this group is foolish.

Carimi might eventually be our LT but I think right now they don't want to throw him to the wolves.  Once he's proven himself they might re-evaluate, but my guess is he doesn't have the quick feet to play LT.  We'll see.

As far as the confusion comment, I think they know who to block they are just getting beaten on the matchups.  You can only coach a guy so much you can't go out there and help him execute his block and you can't hold down his ankles so he doesn't jump before the ball is snapped.

As for your slams against Martz...no disagreement.  He's almost in the category of the Crowton's offense.

Trib reporting Peppers probably won't play. Excellent. Add that to the Bear screen door OL and the game is shaping up into one of those perfect storm games where Cutler finally loses a kidney. Martz of course, would Jay could have done things better. More highlight reel tape of Bears frantically chasing a WR into the end zone. Even Mcnabb can chew you up if you give him 5-6-7 seconds.

Peppers is starting.  Chris Harris is inactive as is Wooton.

Bears have to have this game cause they are going to get owned by the Bucs next week.  They were all over Brees and his WR's.

Looks like the defenses have finally gotten back to form this week around the league for the most part.  Hopefully our Bears follow suit and the Vikings don't.
